Game Highlights

9/29/2019

Story Kimura (2020 RHP, Lawrenceville, NJ) Senior who showed an arsenal that will certainly get outs at the next level. Up to 87 mph with his fastball, Kimura did a nice job of attacking the strike zone while showing a quick arm, but more impressive was the sharp bite on his breaking ball that picked up plenty of strikes. Committed to Cornell.

Orlando Pena (2021 3B, Jersey City, NJ) is a physical Coastal Carolina commit who showed well with the bat on day two of the event. In his first two at-bats of the day, Pena found the barrel twice for both a single and double, the latter of which was a loud shot down the corner in left field.

Richard Lu (2021 RHP, Grand Rapids, MI) made the blog yesterday for his abilities on the mound and on Sunday again, this time for his offensive output. He showed a handle for the barrel and worked all parts of the field resulting in a couple singles and a run scored.

Shane Solari (2021 OF, Brigantine, NJ) had a nice day at the plate for the Green team, finding the barrel in each of his first two at-bats. After singling through the six-hole in his first trip to the plate, Solari put a nice swing on the ball for a loud double to the left-center field gap.

Nolan Kutney (2022 2B, Montoursville, PA) teamed up with Pena (above) for a nice double play in the ninth inning as Kutney dropped to a knee on a sinking line drive, picked the ball and flipped to Pena at second base who barehanded the toss and delivered a strike on to first base.

Kenneth Levari (2020 SS, Vineland, NJ) put his loose hands and fast lefthanded swing on display as he roped a triple down the left field line in his final at-bat of the game, showing plenty of jump off the barrel. He also threw the final inning for his team and sat 90-93 mph with his fastball, showing an electric arm with a hard biting curveball up to 77 mph.

Bryce Demory (2021 OF, Bristow, VA) jumped on the mound in relief for Royal and the lefthander ran his fastball up to 83 mph with a quick arm stroke through the back while mixing in a curveball for strikes. He also picked up a single to his pull side.

Ernesto Polanco (2021 SS, West New York, NJ) made one of the nicer defensive plays of the day early in the game for the Navy team on a chopped ground ball up the middle with which he showed his range and lateral agility along with balance on a spin play before dropping slot and delivering a strike across the diamond.

Game Highlights

9/28/2019

Christopher Mattioli (2021 RHP, Staten Island, NY) got the start for the Royal team and impressed, running his fastball up to 84 mph with a long and loose arm strokes. He projects well physically and filled up the zone while mixing in a hard slider in the upper-70s for strikes.

Braedin Hunt (2020 RHP, Old Bridge, NJ) is an uncommitted righthander out of New Jersey who showed a very interesting arsenal in Atlantic City. Up to 90 mph with his fastball which showed plenty of life, Hunt also mixed in a hard, downer curveball with 12-6 shape in the mid-70s.

Nolan Kutney (2022 2B, Montoursville, PA) showed his defensive instincts off early in the game playing shortstop. On a well struck ball to the six-hole, Kutney came through the ball nicely on his backhand and delivered a strike across before picking up a single of his own in the next half inning.

Bryce Demory (2021 OF, Bristow, VA) put one of the better swings on the ball during the opening day, barreling up a loud double to the left-center field gap to get the offense started.

Richard Lu (2021 RHP, Grand Rapids, MI) jumped on the mound for the Royal team after showing well during batting practice. With a quick right arm, Lu ran his fastball up to 86 mph early on with nice running and sinking life with late tilt to his slider.

Adam Decker (2021 3B, Amarillo, TX) got the Green team on the board with a line drive single into center field, staying short and direct to the ball with his swing while generating jump off the barrel. In his final at-bat of the day Decker picked up an infield single to finish with a 2-for-3 game.

Matthew Carey (2021 RHP, Summit, NJ) impressed during his three innings on the mound, pounding the zone while showing a projectable arsenal. Carey, currently uncommitted, ran his fastball up to 86 mph with extension out front and a nice feel for his curveball which he landed for strikes.

Danny Hussey (2020 OF, West Hartford, CT) impressed during his drills portion of the event, throwing well from the outfield while also showing looseness to his hands at the plate. During the game the uncommitted lefthander jumped on the mound and ran his fastball up to 88 mph with angle and a quick arm.

Alex Balint (2021 RHP, Jamison, PA) ran his fastball up to 81 mph during his three innings of work, though the changeup he showed may have been his most impressive offering with late tumbling action down to his arm side. He managed to strike out eight during his time on the mound.
