Christopher Mattioli (2021 RHP, Staten Island, NY) got the start for the Royal team and impressed, running his fastball up to 84 mph with a long and loose arm strokes. He projects well physically and filled up the zone while mixing in a hard slider in the upper-70s for strikes.
Braedin Hunt (2020 RHP, Old Bridge, NJ) is an uncommitted righthander out of New Jersey who showed a very interesting arsenal in Atlantic City. Up to 90 mph with his fastball which showed plenty of life, Hunt also mixed in a hard, downer curveball with 12-6 shape in the mid-70s.
Nolan Kutney (2022 2B, Montoursville, PA) showed his defensive instincts off early in the game playing shortstop. On a well struck ball to the six-hole, Kutney came through the ball nicely on his backhand and delivered a strike across before picking up a single of his own in the next half inning.
Bryce Demory (2021 OF, Bristow, VA) put one of the better swings on the ball during the opening day, barreling up a loud double to the left-center field gap to get the offense started.
Richard Lu (2021 RHP, Grand Rapids, MI) jumped on the mound for the Royal team after showing well during batting practice. With a quick right arm, Lu ran his fastball up to 86 mph early on with nice running and sinking life with late tilt to his slider.
Adam Decker (2021 3B, Amarillo, TX) got the Green team on the board with a line drive single into center field, staying short and direct to the ball with his swing while generating jump off the barrel. In his final at-bat of the day Decker picked up an infield single to finish with a 2-for-3 game.
Matthew Carey (2021 RHP, Summit, NJ) impressed during his three innings on the mound, pounding the zone while showing a projectable arsenal. Carey, currently uncommitted, ran his fastball up to 86 mph with extension out front and a nice feel for his curveball which he landed for strikes.
Danny Hussey (2020 OF, West Hartford, CT) impressed during his drills portion of the event, throwing well from the outfield while also showing looseness to his hands at the plate. During the game the uncommitted lefthander jumped on the mound and ran his fastball up to 88 mph with angle and a quick arm.
Alex Balint (2021 RHP, Jamison, PA) ran his fastball up to 81 mph during his three innings of work, though the changeup he showed may have been his most impressive offering with late tumbling action down to his arm side. He managed to strike out eight during his time on the mound.
