Batting Practice Highlights  >>

8/23/2020 5:00:00 AM

Slade Caldwell (2024 OF, Jonesboro, AR) has a smooth lefthanded swing that showed the ability to leverage the ball. Overall he has good feel for his mechanics and ability to repeat his swing at a high rate and drive the ball up the middle to the pull side with authority. The power he generates from his lower half and backspin that comes from his high finish help create good carry on the ball.

Tyler Johnson (2025 C, Wetumpka, AL) starts with a low leg lift trigger creating good timing allowing him to consistently square up the ball. He does a good job creating separation with his load and impacting the ball out front with good extension through the ball. His high finish paired with the with the extension he gets at contact makes for well impacted balls with good carry.

Davis Ormes (2025 C, Gulfport, MS) found the barrel a good bit in his round of batting practice with well impacted balls up the middle to the pull side. He starts with a narrow stance and and creates good separation with a toe tap stride. He showed good bat speed throwing his hands at the ball with loud contact regularly.

TJ Hambrick (2024 2B, Pike Road, AL) starts with a hanging leg lift trigger as he does a nice job getting his foot down allowing his hands to fire on time. he does a nice job matching plane with his barrel path as he works through the hitting zone to the inside part of the ball. His ability to use the middle of the field with solid line drives project well moving forward with room to add strength in the frame.

Noah Blackburn (2025 C, Mobile, AL) showed the ability to spray the ball to all fields with authority in his round of batting practice. He starts with an even stance and coils into his load before transferring his weight well into contact with quick hands working to the inside part of the baseball. His good feel for all fields and and 5-foot-10 160-pound frame project well moving forward with and advanced approach and room to continue adding strength to the frame.

Joseph Parker (2025 SS, Purvis, MS) took a very impressive round of batting practice with a smooth left handed swing. His swing starts with an upright stance and lower hands. He does a nice job throwing his hands at the inside part of the ball with good barrel control. His barrel accuracy and hand strength allow him to impact the ball with authority to the pull side.

Jacob Parker (2025 SS, Purvis, MS) has the frame of a physical college hitter already at 6-foot-1 180-pounds and his swing showed flashes of a bright future to come for him down the road. His lefthanded swing starts with wide base as he does a nice job simplifying the swing and allowing his smooth bat path to create leverage through the hitting zone. He showed some pop to the pull side as he is able to get his hips clear and the barrel head out front to impact the ball with authority to right field.
