Day 2 Batting Practice Highlights >>

11/2/2020 2:54:54 PM

Thomas Maher (2024 SS, San Diego, CA) is a young middle infielder with a young 5-8/135 build but he has a nice swing with good hand quickness and a sound and simple approach that he repeats well.  He's definitely going to keep improving with physical maturity.

Roman Meyers (2023 3B, Murrieta, CA) has plenty of present strength for a sophomore and very good present bat speed.  He gets extended through contact very well and projects lots of power in the future.

Anthony Cortese (2021 C, Fremont, CA) has a strong and compact 5-8/175 build and gets into his hips well during his swing, really adding to his bat speed.  He drove the ball consistently gap to gap with good carry.

Jacob Charlson (2023 MIF, Las Cruces, NM) is a projectable young hitter who can create some barrel whip through contact and has nice direction in his swing with good extension through the ball.

Colin Loughrey (2021 OF, Laguna Niguel, CA) is a polished and mature left handed hitter and he put together one of the best rounds of the day, pulling the ball with authority repeated and really showing his bat speed and barrel skills well.

Brady Campbell (2025 OF, Phoenix, AZ) was one of the youngest players at the event but we will likely be hearing more about him in the future as he adds to his 5-10/160 build and keeps increasing his right handed bat speed.  He has quick hands and a nice swing to build on.

Reece Van Devander (2024 1B, Scottsdale, AZ) looks the part of the future power hitter with a 6-2/195 build and showed a nice short swing for his size with an accurate barrel and plenty of future projection.

Drew Anderson (2022 3B, Folsom, CA) gets his whole body into his aggressive swing and creates bat speed.  His hands work well through the ball and he drove the ball well to right centerfield consistently from the left side.

Aiden Pollock (2023 OF, Las Vegas, NV) has a very sound fundamental swing from the right side of the plate and pretty much barreled up everything thrown to him.  He's going to keep improving as he adds strength to his young 5-10/150 build.

Michael Rodda (2022 3B, Temecula, CA) has the big glide into contact that is so common to Southern California hitters and has lots of lift and power in his 6-4/200 body.  And it's always satisfying to end one's batting practice round with a long home run.

Titus Dumitru (2021 1B, Gresham, OR) has a strong 6-2/195 build and a very confident swing approach from the right side.  He showed some of the best raw bat speed of the day, with lots of loud barrels and firm pull side contact.

Danny Noli (2021 RHP, Chandler, AZ) showed solid two-way tools as the primary pitcher has quick hands and good bat speed that he showcased his pull power potential with.

Jordan Cole (2023 SS, Huntington Beach, CA) stood out for his very projectable young 6-2/180 build but also for his bat speed and hitting potential.  He uses his lower half well and stays balanced and direction with hard line drive contact.

Keaton Fisher (2022 1B, Kalama, WA) has a long and strong 6-3/195 build and big leverage and power potential in his left-handed swing.  He hammered some up the right centerfield alley with carry and back spin.

Victor Heredia Jr (2022 SS, Santa Ynez, CA) has a short and very well timed swing with plenty of hand quickness, a great formula for a high average/high contact type of hitter.  He'll keep improving as he adds strength to his 5-11/158 build.

Tanner Holland (2022 OF, Chandler, AZ) is an aggressive right-handed hitter who attacks the ball with strong hands and a pull side approach.

Dean Curley (2023 SS, La Verne, CA) has a nice 6-2/180 build to add strength to and some fast hands to drive his bat through the ball.  When he learns to get his lower half into his swing, watch out for his increased bat speed.

Landon Greenhouse (2023 OF, Riverside, CA) is a very projectable young athlete with quick hands and plenty of present bat speed.  His ability to create back spin and handle the barrel point to plenty of future power development.

Brandon Winokur (2023 SS, Huntington Beach, CA) has a power hitter's young 6-3/195 body and a power hitter's approach at the plate, with a pull and lift swing plane and the strength and bat speed to pull it off.

Jack McWilliams (2024 LHP, San Marcos, CA) is a real interesting young athlete with a 6-2/160 build and a loose and balance right handed swing that really projects well.

Addison Klepsch (2024 SS, Poway, CA) is another slender freshman who has a nice swing that created lots of solid barrels and who projects to keep improving for years to come.

8-Orange vs 10-Red Game Highlights >>

11/2/2020 1:46:16 AM

Lucas Iorgulescu (2021 SS, Huntington Beach, CA) showed big pull side juice and feel for the barrel in game action when he sent two impressive no-doubt shots over the left-field fence. He also picked up a single to round out a 3-for-4 day.

Joshua Bravo (2023 C, La Mirada, CA) picked up a double in game action when he sent a hard liner over the left-fielders head. He has plenty of twitch and athleticism that he uses across all facets of his game but uses it best in generating good bat speed at the dish and consistently matching plane.

Matthew Radogna (2023 SS, Ladera Ranch, CA) had a pair of hits in as many at-bats in this game picking up a single and a double before letting his speed go to work picking up multiple stolen bases with relative ease. His instincts and athleticism serve him well now and should very much so moving forward.

Justin Lee (2023 RHP, Los Angeles, CA) got the start on the bump and was impressive all-around as he made a huge jump overall in size and stuff since we saw him last year. Up to 89 and working comfortably in the mid to upper-80s, he filled the lower half of the zone with good sink while missing bats. He showed feel for a pair of distinct breaking balls in a curveball and a slider that were both sharp and project well.

Tanner Holland (2022 OF, Chandler, AZ) put up an impressive 6.44 sixty time and showed that speed in game where he consistently put pressure on the defense with stolen bags and taking the extra base after barreling the baseball like he does often.

Dean Curley (2023 SS, La Verne, CA) continued a sound weekend picking up a pair of hits including a well-struck liner double to the pull side gap. He has great bat speed and impact strength that he is able to use well recognizing pitches early at the dish and sending them to any part of the field.

Jack McWilliams (2024 LHP, San Marcos, CA): McWilliams doesn't overpower but really pitched well, pounding the edges in the upper-70's with good sink and a good breaker with tons of projection remaining on his frame, striking out 9 in 4 innings.

11/1/2020 10:39:24 PM

Sawyer Voortman (2022 RHP, Ontario, CA) threw four strong innings for team Royal recording nine strikeouts while allowing just two hits. Voortman has a quick arm action that has the ability to run his fastball up to 86 mph and he mixed in two solid secondaries. His off-speed shows maturity and has more than enough velo discrepancy to miss bats.

Vince Gamberdella (2022 C, Santa Barbara, CA) showcased his opposite field approach and slashed a hard hit single the other way. His strong hands and mature approach will prove to be a carrying tool for him.

Patrick Collopy (2022 LHP, Austin, TX) produced some hard contact at the plate, as he creates good leverage in his swing. His quick hands allowed him to get the barrel out in front and turn on a ball to left field.

Isaac Cota (2022 RHP, La Mesa, CA) had three hits in the ball game for team Maroon. He had three singles on the day and competed at the plate. He has a simple middle of the field approach that makes him a tough out every time he steps up to the plate.

12-White vs 15-Red Game Highlights >>

11/1/2020 8:25:02 PM

Christopher Ceballos (2021 RHP, Azusa, CA) got the start for the white team and showed great upside for an uncommitted senior across four strong innings living in the 84-88 range with a fastball that showed good cut to the glove side and picking up ten strikeouts. He pounded the zone fearlessly against hitters and was able to miss a good amount of bats with both that fastball and a sharp low-70s curveball. He also picked up a ground-rule double to the pull side late in the game.

Ty Garcia (2023 OF, Northridge, CA) showed things to like offensively when he picked up a well-struck triple before making solid contact again in his next at-bat on a flout. He shows quickness to the hands and athleticism that plays well across all facets of his game.

Marcus Rivera (2022 1B, Hayward, CA) showed some feel for the barrel in game when he picked up a pair of hits in the form of a single and a double. The uncommitted first baseman has some strength behind the 5-9, 205 pound frame and can use it well when he gets the barrel out.

Elijah Lofton (2023 OF, Thornton, CO) also picked up a pair of hits in the form of a single and a double using good handle of the barrel to patrol the zone and battle deep into counts where he could get a pitch to drive to different parts of the field.

Caden Hunt (2023 C, Henderson, NV) showed a number of things to like in his game with the speed being the first of those as he impaceds the game with it quickly. After a single in his first at-bat, and coming around to score, he would hustle out a throwing error down the right field line quick enough to come all the way around to score on what was a strikeout. He moves especially well for a primary catcher and impressed up to 86 from the outfield.

Vaughn Major (2023 SS, La Mesa, CA) is already well known for his offensive and defensive prowess, but he showed a number of things to like on the mound here working in the 84-87 range with excellent life to the fastball while mixing in a pair of distinct quality-spin breaking balls for significant swing-and-miss across his inning.

11/1/2020 2:39:36 AM

Nic Abraham (2024 1B, Rancho Murieta, CA) is only a 2024 graduate but found plenty of barrels from the left side of the plate. Though there’s some drift through his lower half, his hands are quick and he squared the ball up with back spun line drives consistently to his pull side.

Joe Reitz (2022 C, Hood River, OR) is a switch-hitter and he showed a nice swing from both sides of the plate in his round. He worked gap-to-gap from the right side of the plate with looseness to his hands and showed quick hands with a linear path from the left side while hitting the ball out front.

Jake Sanko (2024 SS, Peoria, AZ) is another 2024 graduate who swung it well, putting together a consistent round, staying short to the ball with his barrel. He projects very well physically with added strength and lived to the middle and pull side parts of the field.

Josh DeGroot (2022 SS, Caledonia, WI) swung that bat very well in his round of batting practice and the uncommitted Wisconsin product projects big time. With loose and whippy hands he was able to generate intriguing jump off of the barrel to the pull side gap.

Elijah James (2022 SS, Oakland, CA) starts with a lower hand set in his swing but shows plenty of quickness to them once underway. He worked the gaps and showed carry off the barrel with intriguing jump at the point of contact.

Milo Rushford (2022 OF, Sahuarita, AZ) has a projectable 6-1/170 lefthanded bat who showed things to like in the box. With quickness to his hands and present bat speed through the zone, Rushford was consistent in hitting the ball out front while generating separation in his swing.

Christopher Ceballos (2021 RHP, Azusa, CA) has a short swing for his 6-3 frame and uses his size well to generate carry to the pull side gap. There’s present bat speed through the zone and found a groove towards the end of his round with projectable power.

Antonio Avila (2022 OF, Corrales, NM) is another switch-hitter who put together a quality round at the plate. He showed strength in his swing form the right side with some present feel for the barrel and strength coming off, just as he showed lefthanded where he worked the middle part of the field with some back spin.

Jackson “Birdie” Gifford (2021 3B, Santa Cruz, CA) did a nice job of staying short to the baseball and unlocked his strength, though there’s more to come with additional lower half. He stayed short to the ball with strength in his hands, showing quickness to them with big jump to his pull side.

James Graser (2021 C, San Ramon, CA) looks to pull the ball at the point of contact and did so thanks to the quickness in his hands. Staying short to the ball, Graser showed lift in his swing and got the barrel through with intent, looking to impact with carry coming off.

Chris Canavan (2023 LHP, Temecula, CA) is a 6-5/190 primary lefthanded pitcher but he swung it well from the left side of the plate. When he got separated he was able to generate loud contact off of the barrel with back spin to the middle of the field.

Connor Apeceche (2024 C, Las Vegas, NV) keeps his hands inside the ball with his righthanded swing, staying short to the ball. He gets extended out front at the point of contact and shows looseness to his swing with some strength coming off the barrel.

Joel Roberts (2023 3B, Modesto, CA) put together a solid round of batting practice, showing both strength and looseness from the right side of the plate. He’s listed 6-0/180 and generates occasional jump with lift and fluidity through the zone.

Joseph Barnhardt (2021 C, Stockton, CA) is a physical 6-2/205 righthanded hitting catcher who impressed with the strength and life he was able to generate off of the barrel. With a simple swing, Barnhardt showed big carry to the right-center field gap with loud contact off of the barrel.
