2018 Northeast Indoor Showcase

15 - Royal vs. 16 - White Game Highlights >>

2/25/2018 5:18:43 PM

John Piacentino (2019 OF, Cherry Hill, NJ) showed off his athleticism and great arm strength from the mound. Piacentino was very effective in his one inning of work, striking out all 4 hitters he faced. Dominated hitters with his FB that sat 90-91 topped 92 and a tight SL.

Jordan Peyton (2020 SS, Colonial Beach, VA) impressed in his one inning of work on the mound. Peyton filled up the zone with his FB ranging between 84-86 and topped out at 87. Struck out 4 of the 5 batters he faced.

Nathan Vermillion (2020 RHP, Davidsonville, MD) had a good inning on the mound, executing all 3 of his pitches for strikes. Vermillion's FB ranged 80-82 and was complemented with a good CH and biting curve. Struck out all 4 hitters he faced.

Nate Beal (2020 RHP, Reisterstown, MD) showed a lot of potential on the mound. Good, physical presence on the mound. Was able to beat hitters with his FB ranging 83-85 and a tight spinning SL.
13 - Purple vs. 14 - Navy Game Highlights >>

2/25/2018 4:55:05 PM

Sonny Fauci (2019 RHP, Old Bridge, NJ) had very impressive stuff from his 6'2 frame. Fauci used a 3 pitch mix with a FB ranging between 86-88, topping out at 89 with very good life. He complemented his FB with a sharp breaking ball that had a late 11/5 break, and an effective change up with some sink. Had 4 K's over his 2 innings of work.

Will Vergantino (2020 SS, Lumberton, NJ) had a great game defensively and at the plate. Vergantino showed very athletic movements in the field and batting, along with some pop in his bat when he crushed a ball into the net towards RF.

Ethan McCormick (2020 SS, Glen Burnie, MD) threw very well in his inning of work. McCorminck filled up the zone repeatedly with his FB topping out at 81 with some good sink. Struck out 4 hitters.
11 - Gray vs. 12 - Green Game Highlights >>

2/25/2018 4:06:38 PM

Josh Moylan (2020 1B, Stoney Beach, MD) was very impressive at the plate. Moylan showed a great approach in his at bats which led to 2 hits. Showed some big time pop in his bat, launching a ball high into the net towards RF that would have been a HR.

John Torroella (2019 RHP, Ellicott City, MD) threw very well in his 2 innings of work. Torroella worked with a FB ranging between 82-84 MPH with good down angle from his 6-4 frame. Also mixed in a 12/6 CB with late bite and a fading change up with the ability to maintain his arm speed. Recorded 5 K's and allowed 0 hits over the 8 hitters he faced

Marcus Lee Sang (2019 OF, Owings, MD) displayed good athleticism throughout the game both at the plate and on the mound. Lee Sang made loud contact in both of his at bats and showed off his arm strength on the mound, running his FB up to 86 MPH and was able to create good down angle.

Zach Powers (2019 RHP, Centreville, MD) showed a ton of potential on the mound from his long 6'4" frame. Powers was able to work his FB up to 85 MPH with good ASR. Was able to keep hitters off balance with his breaking ball and change up that showed good fade and sink. Struck out 7 of the 8 hitters he faced and did not allow a hit.

Trevor Romaine (2019 SS, Laurel, MD) had a good overall showing throughout the game. Good athleticism defensively, made loud contact at the plate, and struck out the 4 batters he faced using a very tight 12/6 CB with late bite.
Day 2 Batting Practice Highlights >>

2/25/2018 3:57:16 PM

Marcus Lee Sang (2019 OF, Owings, MD) came out swinging a hot bat early in the morning, impacting the ball hard to his pull side. Already committed to St. John’s, Lee Sang did a nice job of uncoiling into contact and impacted the ball hard to his pull side with hard and loud jump to his pull side.

Harrison Feinberg (2021 OF, Greenwich, CT) is just starting his high school career but showed some nice components to his swing during BP. While there are timing elements to his swing, Feinberg showed quickness to his hands with a short stroke and rising line drive contact to the pull side.

Josh Moylan (2020 1B, Stoney Beach, MD) is a strong built lefthanded bat and he did a nice job to implement that strength into his swing, generating consistent and hard contact off the barrel. He was able to get separated out front at the point of contact and lived in the middle of the field with rising line drive contact.

Parker Landwehr (2019 C, Baltimore, MD) is already committed to Boston College and you can see why when the strongly built junior steps into the box. He stays simple with his swing and shows a longer path which help yield consistent loud contact with loud jump off the barrel.

Daniel Perez (2020 SS, Greenwich, CT) is a young 2020 commit who showed well with the bat throughout his round. A righthanded bat, Perez shows nice components to his swing with looseness throughout and jump off the barrel when squared to his pull side.

Though listed as a primary lefthanded pitcher, Will Hart (2019 LHP, Madison, NJ) put together an impressive round from the left side of the plate. Strongly built, Hart showed solid bat speed with good angle to the ball and a consistent feel for the barrel while showing some pop at the point of contact.

Kyle Hoog (2020 OF, Jersey City, NJ) is strongly built at 6-3/190 and projects well physically while showing present athleticism on the diamond. With a fuller path through the zone Hoog showed nice strength off the barrel with balance and steady contact to his pull side.

Christian Fagnant (2019 C, East Granby, CT) did a nice job of putting his short lefthanded swing on display, staying within himself while lining pitches back up the box. He projects well physically and shows sound fundamentals while getting extended out front at the point of contact.

Nathan Vermillion (2020 RHP, Davidsonville, MD) is listed as a primary pitcher but he knows how to incorporate his strong 6-1/215 frame well at the plate. With a full swing path through the zone, Vermillion shows nice looseness through the zone and hard jump off the barrel while still projecting moving forward.

John Piacentino (2019 OF, Cherry Hill, NJ) impressed throughout the skills portion of the event and continued into his round of batting practice as the Penn State commit showed quick hands and a short stroke. He has strength in his hands and natural lift to his path with present bat speed through the zone.

After showing big arm strength around the diamond, Jordan Peyton (2020 SS, Colonial Beach, VA) put his short, linear swing on display throughout his round. He utilized a contact oriented approach and worked the middle of the field with line drive contact.

Justin Looney (2019 C, Columbia, MD) put together one of the loudest rounds of batting practice on day two. Committed to Longwood, Looney showed a simple and easy swing that produced some hard contact with a repeatable swing, showing solid extension out front.

Sonny Fauci (2019 RHP, Old Bridge, NJ) is listed as a primary righthanded pitcher who is already committed to St. John’s, but he also showed well with the bat during his round of BP. Staying short to the ball with quick hands, Fauci connected for consistent barreled contact with leverage out front.

Strongly built at 6-0/190, Will Vergantino (2020 SS, Lumberton, NJ) put together a nice round in the cages with a short, balanced swing while utilizing a simple trigger at the dish. He projects well moving forward with additional lower half implemented but can already make the ball jump off his barrel with rising line drive contact.

Though he’s just entering his freshman season, lefthanded hitting Michael Bello (2021 OF, Oak Ridge, NJ) already shows tools at the plate that stand out. Physically built, Bello shows rhythm to his swing and easy bat speed through the zone with leverage to his swing path and tools that project nicely moving forward.

Justin Cassella (2020 SS, Bernardsville, NJ), a primary shortstop who is starting his sophomore season, showed nice tools at the plate and offers nice projection moving forward. He’d occasionally get to his front side arly but when on time he was able to impact the baseball to his pull side with nice carry off the barrel.

9 - Cardinal vs. 10 - Gold >>

2/25/2018 11:42:58 AM

Javon Hernandez (2019 SS, Danbury, CT) showed good athleticism both in the field and at the plate. Hernandez showed a quick barrel with good hands. Hernandez showed his ability to hit for contact in all his ABs and showed some pop off the barrel on a line drive single over SS.

Noah Mrotek (2021 RHP, Bowie, MD) has a nice, projectable frame and had quality at bats throughout the whole game. Mrotek showed good feel for the barrel with a good approach.

Jack Clougherty (2019 1B, Hingham, MA) had a good game at the plate, collecting 2 hits on the day. Clougherty worked well to all fields and made loud contact from his physical frame.

Will Hart (2019 LHP, Madison, NJ) was very effective in his 2 innings on the mound. Hart was throwing a 80-83 MPH fastball with good ASR and complemented that with a very tight spinning curveball. Retired all 7 batters he faced by strikeout.

Antonio Tufano (2019 SS, Babylon, NY) was impressive in all 3 of his plate appearance, collecting 2 hits in the game. Tufano has a short, compact swing that gives him the ability to hit for contact very well.

Day 1 Batting Practice Highlights >>

2/24/2018 7:33:38 PM

Caleb Rodriguez (2020 SS, North Brunswick, NJ) did a nice job of incorporating his strength and though he’s listed at 5-9/150 he put together a solid round with rising line drive contact off the barrel. He was able to create leverage at the point of contact while utilizing his lower half very well in his mechanics.

Casey Takemura (2019 C, Edison, NJ) put together a nice round of BP after showing well behind the dish as he shows quick hands and the ability to lift the ball out front. He certainly has tools at the plate with hard jump coming off the barrel and nice backspin to his pull side.

Elijah Dickerson (2019 OF, Mount Holly, NJ) showed us some of the best bat speed on the day as the La Salle commit starts with a quiet stance before attacking the baseball. He uncoiled well moving into contact with extension out front and consistent loud contact to his pull side.

Luke Chenault (2020 1B, Lake Hopatcong, NJ) may be a 2020 graduate but he put together as impressive a round of BP as anybody on the day. A physically built lefthanded stick, Chenault did a nice job of creating leverage and extension out front while driving the ball to his pull side with nice jump off the barrel.

Anthony Donofrio (2018 OF, Massapequa, NY) had a solid all-around day, one that culminated in a solid round of BP. A lefthanded hitter, Donofrio shows balance and rhythm to his swing and did a nice job of hitting the ball out front with a smooth, effortless stroke and present bat speed.

Anthony Esposito (2020 C, Lincroft, NJ) is a strongly built lefthanded bat at 6-2/220 and he goes to the plate looking to impact the baseball. He stays linear through the zone with hard contact back up the box with sound bat speed through the zone.

Tyler Cotten (2020 C, Yorktown, VA) did a nice job of getting the barrel through the zone and to the ball while incorporating his lower half nicely. He shows sound bat speed and can continue to get additional extension, though the ball already jumps hard when squared.

Jarrett May (2019 1B, Middlesex, NJ) is strongly built at 6-3/230 and he knows how to use that strength at the plate. Despite his size, May was able to stay short and simple to the ball, create lift out front with backspin off the barrel and hard jump to his pull side.

Jack Fitzgerald (2019 C, Monroe Twp, NJ), a primary catcher, is strongly built and incorporates that strength well into his swing. He does a nice job of staying short and direct to the ball and creates hard jump while working all parts of the field and projects with additional extension out front.

Shane Hickey (2020 SS, Jackson, NJ) has a nice all-around skill set as lefthanded hitting shortstop, showing balance to his swing while remaining smooth throughout his mechanics. He created steady line drive contact to his pull side with backspin off the barrel and still projects well moving forward.

Sean McKenna (2019 2B, Cherry Hill, NJ) is a lean 5-7/140 but he went to the plate with a plane and was able to execute it consistently. A righthanded bat, McKenna stayed linear through the zone with a contact oriented approach in which he found a lot of barrel and worked the middle of the field.

Joseph Pence (2020 OF, Mount Laurel, NJ) projects nicely moving forward but already can impress as he did throughout his round. He creates nice bat speed and shows strength in his hands, showing jump to all fields with solid leverage at the point of contact.

Nick Marley (2020 SS, Damascus, MD) showed plenty of intent with his righthanded swing, showing some whip through the zone while projecting well physically. He remained short to the ball and showed nice jump off the barrel when squared up and on time.

Jack Haynes (2020 OF, Titusville, NJ) remained simple with his approach in the box, staying short to the ball and repeated his mechanics well. He worked the middle and pull parts of the field with line drive contact off the barrel while showing quickness to hands.

Chris Corchado (2021 1B, Manalapan, NJ) is strongly built at 6-0/200 and the lefthanded hitter has just begun his high school career. His best contact came when getting extended out front as he was able to create backspin off the barrel with elevation out front.

Sam Batis (2021 RHP, Clarksburg, MD) is listed as a primary righthanded pitcher but he also put together a nice round of BP for the Red squad. Beginning with a higher hand set, Batis connected for solid line drive contact with occasional leverage to his pull side.

Evan Bologa (2019 C, Simsbury, CT) put together a nice round of batting practice, staying simple through his shift while remaining linear thorugh the zone. He found the barrel well and shows quickness to his hands with consistent line drive contact back up the box.

Colin Ahearn (2020 LHP, Lakeville, MA) may be listed as a primary lefthanded pitcher, but the young 2020 graduate showed well with the bat too. While there are loading components to his swing the lefthanded hitting Ahearn showed looseness to his wrists as he whipped the barrel through the zone with hard jump to his pull side.

Tristan Latham (2019 C, North Andover, MA) is a physical 6-1/215 bat out of Massachusetts who made his presence felt both in batting practice and live action. His overall mechanics are simple as he stays short and easy to the ball with rising line drive contact to the back of the net.

Santino Rosso (2019 SS, Victor, NY) showed legitimate contact skills from both sides of the plate, impressing both with his balance and overall feel for the barrel. His swing is slightly more refined from the right side at present with better bat speed, but he showed well from the left side with steady line drive contact off the bat.

Zion Spearman (2020 OF, Philadelphia, PA) is one of the more physical players of the event and he put that strength on display. A recent Pittsburgh commit, Spearman was able to generate solid bat speed through the zone and connected for hard contact consistently to his pull side.

5 - Gray vs. 6 - Green Highlights >>

Clark Klitenic (2019 LHP, Bethesda, MD) had a very impressive showing on the mound. The Duke commit used 4 quality pitches throughout his 2 innings of work. Klitenic was 85-88 with his FB with good life to the arm side and was able to strike out 6 of the 7 batters he faced in his 2 innings.

Santino Rosso (2019 SS, Victor, NY) was solid defensively up the middle throughout the whole game. Rosso also showed great plate discipline and his ability to hit for contact from both sides of the plate adding a hard single up the middle vs. a high caliber arm.

John Moore (2020 RHP, Newton, MA) had a solid 2 innings of work, showing good command of his 80-83 FB from his athletic, projectile frame. Moore recorded 4 K's in his two innings of work.

Charlie Hafer (2020 C, Abingdon, MD) displayed good athleticism behind and at the plate. Hafer made hard, loud contact in 2 of his 3 AB's collecting 2 hits, including a drive to deep RF that would have been a sure 2B.

Tristan Latham (2019 C, North Andover, MA) showed some big time raw power, launching a ball high into the LF net that would have been a HR at any park.

Cody Brick (2019 SS, Catonsville, MD) drove a ball towards deep CF, displaying power from his big, physical frame.

Colin Ahearn (2020 LHP, Lakeville, MA) showed great command of his FB especially once he was able to get into a good rhythm. Ahearn ran his FB up to 84 which looked deceptively harder because of his ability to hide the ball. Also showed a tight spinning CB and ability to throw it for strikes and swing and misses deeper in the count. Ahearn recorded 5 K's in his 2 innings of work.

Elijah Dickerson (2019 OF, Mount Holly, NJ) had a very strong performance both at the plate and on the mound. Dickerson made loud contact displaying his plus bat speed in all of his ABs and was able to record 2 hits in the game. Dickerson filled up the zone with an 86-88 MPH FB and kept hitters off balance with his CB to record 3 straight K's in his one inning of work.

Caleb Rodriguez (2020 SS, North Brunswick, NJ) had a great all around game. Rodriguez flashed the leather throughout the whole game at SS and backed that up collecting 2 hits at the plate using a short swing with good bat speed.

Luke Chenault (2020 1B, Lake Hopatcong, NJ) showed some pop in his bat and ability to stay inside the ball driving a base hit up the middle. Had a very patient approach at the plate

Anthony Pron (2019 RHP, Mullica Hill, NJ) recorded 6 K's while only giving up 1 hit in his 2 innings of work. Pron was up to 85 from his high 3/4 arm slot while mixing in a tight spinning breaking ball.

Evan Lewis (2020 RHP, Severna Park, MD) was very effective on the mound, striking out 5 and not allowing a hit in 2 innings of work. Lewis filled up the zone with his FB up to 85 and mixed in a sharp CB that was able to create swing and misses.

Anthony Donofrio (2018 OF, Massapequa, NY) showed several of his tools throughout the game. In his 1st AB, Donofrio showed a good opposite field approach and a good feel for the barrel with a line drive 1B to LF. Donofrio stepped on the mound and showed off his arm strength, running his FB up to 86 with command and complimented that with a sharp curveball

7 - Red vs. 8 - Orange >>

2/24/2018 12:00:00 AM

Jason Castillo (2020 RHP, Yonkers, NY) was extremely effective and dominant in his 2 innings of work on the mound. Castillo showed exceptional command of his FB to the arm side and complemented it with a very tight 12-6 CB. Struck out 8 of the 9 batters he faced without allowing a hit and sat 80-81 with FB.

Josh Nathan (2019 RHP, Randolph, NJ) consistently repeated his delivery from his tall, projectable frame to dominate in his 2 innings of work. Nathan worked off his 80-82 MPH fastball and also threw a sharp 12/6 breaking ball and a split finger that had a nice late diving action out of the zone. Recorded 6 strikeouts in 2 innings of work and did not allow a hit.

Sam Batis (2021 RHP, Clarksburg, MD) showed well in his 1 inning of work on the mound. The young RHP ran his FB up to 81 MPH and showed an 11/5 CB with good bite to strike out 3 of the 4 batters he faced.

Ryan Schechner (2020 LHP, Bellmore, NY) had an effective day on the mound and at the plate. The LHP struck out 6 in his 2 innings of work and topped it off by showing a nice, compact swing on a hard line drive 1B up the middle in his last AB.
