Orange vs. White Highlights >>

8/20/2017 4:25:36 PM

Benny Casillas (2019 SS, Culver City, CA) went 1-2 in today’s matchup, finding the barrel while hitting a hard double to right center field and scoring a run.

James Kobylt (2019 SS, Los Angeles, CA) features a strong, mature frame for his age, impressing today with his bat putting a drive into a pitch taking it over the centerfielder’s head for a RBI double.

Andrew Duran (2019 1B, Covina, CA) showed strength in his game today, racking up two hits. The first was a hard double to left-center field, followed by a muscled broken bat double up the middle in his second AB.

Reagan Guthrie (2020 C, Rancho Santa Fe, CA) is a high energy, fun athlete to watch and also impressed in his outing. He had a double driven over the left fielder’s head, driving in a run during the process.

Alonzo Tredwell (2021 RHP, Coto De Caza, CA) is a 2021 with a solid arm action and solid frame for his age. He features a fastball that was up to 84, mixing in a curveball that flashed good, projectable spin. He finished the game with eight strikeouts in three innings tossed.

Steel vs Purple Highlights >>

8/20/2017 1:57:16 PM

John Schwoerer (2019 OF, South Salem, NY) Had a nice RBI double down the left field line and scored a run. He hits with quick hands and shows bat speed.

Preston Winget (2020 OF, Draper, UT) doubled over the left fielders head to lead off the inning and later scored. He has some strength in swing and barrels up well.

Stephen Bond (2019 SS, Walnut Creek, CA) went 2-3 with 2 singles and a run scored. He is an aggressive hitter and has good bat speed.

Jackson Skellett (2020 C, Carlsbad, CA) doubled to the left center field gap. He is short to the ball with bat speed and shows strength in his hands.

Daniel Galvin (2019 OF, Chandler, AZ) had a hard line drive double today. He has a very glove and made a couple great plays in the game.

Jack Hyde (2019 RHP, La Mesa, CA) pitched 3 scoreless innings giving up only 1 hit while striking out 5. He has a projectable build with a loose athletic delivery. His fastball showed life topping at 86mph.

Orange vs Purple >>

8/20/2017 12:17:45 AM

John Paul Avila (2021 SS, San Carlos, CA) went 2-3 on the day with two singles to center field. Avila swings down on the ball with consistent contact.

Reagan Guthrie (2020 C, Rancho Santa Fe, CA) is a high energy player who went 2-3 with singles to both left and right field. Guthrie shows the ability to hit the ball to all fields.

Andrew Duran (2019 1B, Covina, CA) went 1-2 with an opposite field home run to right field. Duran makes loud contact and shows some pop.

William Coquillard (2019 RHP, Pacific Palisades, CA) displayed tools at the plate and on the mound. He stands at a projectable 6'8" and sits 80-83 on the mound with good command and a 68 mph curveball. At the plate, Coquillard ripped a double to the right-center field gap showing a fluid stroke.

Mike Schreiber (2019 RHP, Rancho Santa Fe, CA) sat 83-85 with pinpoint command. Schreiber has a strong mix of pitches displaying four of them all for strikes. The mix included a 70 mph curveball, a 74 mph changeup and an 81 mph cutter. His arm works well.

Vincent Temesvary (2020 OF, Los Angeles, CA) has good arm strength exclusively from the stretch. Temesvary's fastball sat 84-86 with solid command and a tight 71 mph curveball.

Bryce Bernal (2020 SS, Whitier, CA) went 2-3 with two singles. Bernal has an exaggerated open stance with hit ability.

Ryan Fernandez (2020 1B, Beverly Hills, CA) roped a double off the left-center field wall in his last at-bat.

Daniel Galvin (2019 OF, Chandler, AZ) has an aggressive approach that resulted in a 2-3 day including a single and a double.

Gavin Muller (2020 RHP, Mesa, AZ) collected 2 singles in the contest. Muller consistently made barreled contact.

Korey Shepard (2019 RHP, Moreno Valley, CA) went 2-2 with two singles including one hard line drive to left field.

Nathan Hamberg (2019 RHP, Sugar Land, TX) sat 83-84 mph on the mound. Hamburg has a projectable build with a solid 3 pitch mix. He also flashed a 73 mph changeup and low-70s curveball with good bite.
Steel vs. White >>

8/19/2017 6:12:30 PM

Joseph Augustine (2019 RHP, Burbank, CA)got the start for the Steel club and ran his fastball up to 83 mph from the right side. Projectable at 5-foot-11, 150-pounds, Augustine showed quickness to his arm action and was able to work down in the zone while spinning a tight breaking ball up to 74 mph which he threw for strikes as well. He also picked up two base hits in his first two at-bats, twice singling to center field with a short stroke.

James Kobylt (2019 SS, Los Angeles, CA) continued to swing a big bat from the right side and did just that in his first trip, showing strong hands to muscle an inner half fastball into the opposite field gap for a double, the first extra-base hit of the day.

Brady Zavorek (2021 SS, Fresno, CA) did a nice job of working his pull side in his first at-bat, showing hustle out of the box to turn his base hit into a double. He also exhibited nice arm strength and carry from shortstop the half inning prior to get the runner at first base.

Coming in after Augustine for the Steel team was Kennesaw Steinberg (2020 RHP, Thousand Oaks, CA) who showed a loose and quick arm action of his own. He was up to 82 mph with his fastball and showed short sinking life down in the zone though it was his consistent feel for the curveball that he displayed that was just as impressive.

Ryon Padayao (2019 3B, Santa Ana, CA) continued to swing a nice stick from the right side and picked up an easy single, showing balance with looseness to his hands on the single into left field. He also made a diving play at third base down the line and though he didn’t ultimately get the runner, he did keep the batter from securing extra base hits. He was also up to 80 mph on the bump.

Maximilian Ramirez IV (2019 RHP, Watsonville, CA) continued the line of impressive arms for Steel as he too was up to 83 mph, showing a full and quick arm through the backside. He did a nice job of working on top of the ball to generate plane and was able to miss more than a couple of bats along the way while turning over a 77 mph changeup.

Matthew Wilson (2020 1B, La Mirada, CA) was able to plate the first run of the game for the White team, going with an outer half pitch for a double that he was able to sneak in down the right field line.

In two of his three at-bats Benny Casillas (2019 SS, Culver City, CA) found the barrel and connected for hard contact to his pull side, resulting in two-bag hits. His third at-bat may have been the most impressive as he showed plenty of quickness to his hands and pulled the barrel in, turning on the inner half pitch.

Batting Practice Highlights >>

8/19/2017 12:00:00 AM

Griffith Fenn (2019 OF, Durham, CA) did a nice job of generating bat speed through the zone and showed a consistent feel for the barrel during his round while staying short to the ball. It’s a simple swing and he did a nice job of repeating his linear swing with line drive contact to all fields.

Tyler Weiner (2019 OF, Murrieta, CA) is a long and projectable 6-foot-3 outfielder who put his short and quick swing on display with hard line drive contact to the middle and pull side parts of the field. His swing is easy with few moving parts and he was able to generate consistent carry off the barrel when squared.

Andrew Duran (2019 1B, Covina, CA) is a big and strong 6-foot-2, 200-pound righthanded hitting first baseman who shows interesting components to his swing which are worth following. He has some moving parts to his load but he also has a very quick bat through the zone and shows carry off the barrel when squared up .

Joseph Heidtke (2020 RHP, Carmel Valley, CA) showed a nice, balanced swing from the righthanded batter’s box and possesses easy hands in his path. Is overall swing is direct through the zone and he does a nice job of repeating while creating consistent line drive contact with occasional leverage out front.

A lefthanded hitter, Kaleb Hatch (2020 C, Escondido, CA) showed a short stroke at the plate during his round of batting practice with present looseness to his hands. He generates extension out front and shows interesting parts to his swing with nice contact off the barrel when squared.

Vincent Temesvary (2020 OF, Los Angeles, CA) continued to impress in the opening day of the showcase with his righthanded swing in his batting practice session. Strongly built, Temesvary was able to generate noted bat speed through the zone while staying short to the ball with loud jump off the barrel.

Matt Odom (2020 2B, Glendale, CA) is a young switch-hitter who showed a balance swing from both sides of the plate, handling the barrel while showing quickness to his hands. He projects well physically and showed his best contact from the right side with a short stroke and looseness through his swing.

He may be listed as a primary righthanded pitcher but William Coquillard (2019 RHP, Pacific Palisades, CA) showed one of the more balanced swings of the day despite his long 6-foot-8, 215-pound frame. With his length, Coquillard was also able to generate leverage to his swing and connected for the lone home run, to the opposite field nonetheless, with loose hands and a short swing.

Maximilian Ramirez IV (2019 RHP, Watsonville, CA) impressed later in the day with his right arm on the mound, but also showed nice potential with the bat. With quickness to his hands and steady line drive contact, Ramirez did a nice job of repeating his swing with consistent contact off the barrel, especially to his pull side.

John Schwoerer (2019 OF, South Salem, NY) is listed at 5-foot-10, 175-pounds and showed nice quickness to his hands from the right side of the plate. With a full, linear swing path Schwoerer was able to connect for line drive contact to all parts of the field and projects with additional leverage to his plane through the zone.

James Kobylt (2019 SS, Los Angeles, CA) is strongly built at 6-foot-1, 190-pounds and he did a nice job of incorporating his physical strength into his righthanded swing. Staying short and direct to the ball Kobylt showed some of the better bat speed on the afternoon with hard jump and carry to his pull side.

Jared Littlefield (2019 OF, La Jolla, CA) utilizes a higher leg lift trigger for timing and he did a nice job of getting it down with his weight shift, showing a short and consistent stroke from the right side. He shows nice bat speed through the zone and leverage out front with quick hands, creating carry when squared up.

Alonzo Tredwell (2021 RHP, Coto De Caza, CA) is one of the younger players in attendance and though he’s a primary righthanded pitcher, he also showed well with the bat. A lefthanded hitter, Tredwell shows quick hands and present bat speed, hitting the ball out front with jump off the barrel and still projects for more moving forward.

Ryon Padayao (2019 3B, Santa Ana, CA) took one of the easier rounds of batting practice that we saw on opening day, staying short to the ball with a strong and loose righthanded swing. He was on time with his leg lift trigger and connected for steady hard contact to the middle and pull side parts of the field.
