2022 Chicago Indoor Showcase (01/17/2022 - 01/17/2022)

3-Gray vs 4-Green Game Highlights >>

1/18/2022 12:32:11 AM

Adam Behrens (2023 RHP, Lake Villa, IL) put together an eye-opening performance today in his start for the Gray Team, running his fastball up to 90 mph and sitting in the high 80’s with ease. He flashed an impressive curveball and changeup arsenal, with the breaking ball showing 12-6 shape with sharp downer action. He stands at a physical 6-foot-3, 190-pounds and there is plenty of projection remaining. Huge uncommitted name to know throughout the Midwest moving forward.

Colin Miller (2023 RHP, Gilberts, IL) is another uncommitted arm who had an impressive PG Showcase debut, as he sat 86-89 mph with ease and flashed a wipeout curveball with late bite and big-time swing and miss potential. He stands at an extremely loose and projectable 6-foot-3, 175-pounds. His upside is sky-high, and we don’t expect him to uncommitted for long after today’s performance.

Erick Colon (2023 RHP, Schaumburg, IL) really showed off the strength in his swing and put his power potential on full display, as he crushed one into the opposite field gap for extra bases. The primary pitcher proved that he can do damage with a fastball left over the plate.

David Cox (2024 SS, Oak Brook, IL) had a successful day at the plate, picking up two well-struck hits. For his first, he dropped the bat head and showed impressive bat speed, catching up and getting his hands through on a low and inside fastball and smoking it past the third baseman. He then followed it up with a single up the middle later in the game. The sophomore has a large and physical frame that projects well, and there is exciting power potential present.

Dasaan Lee (2024 3B, Monee, IL) was seeing the ball extremely well in this one, as he produced loud contact on multiple occasions. The primary third baseman has a large and physical 6-foot, 194-pound frame, and there is definite strength present. For his first hit, he got a belt-high fastball and didn’t miss it, sending a screaming line drive back up the middle. For his second hit, he elevated one and sent it soaring, deep into the left-field for extra-bases.

Colin Ryder (2024 1B, South Elgin, IL) made some of the loudest contact of the day during his final at bat, as he absolutely demolished a baseball to left field. There is immense power potential is his 6-foot-6, 210-pound frame, and he creates massive amounts of leverage in his swing.

Joey Spano Jr. (2024 SS, Erie, PA) made the play of the day at shortstop for the Green Team, as he ranged to his back hand side, making a sliding play in the hole and popping up to get the runner at first. He is a smooth and fluid mover with obvious lateral range, and he displayed excellent adjustability and athleticism on that play.

1-Black vs. 2-Gold Game Highlights >>

1/17/2022 10:57:07 PM

Jack Buckalew (2023 RHP, Monticello, IL) was nearly untouchable in his first inning of work, running his fastball up to 84 mph and missing plenty of bats with his curveball/slider mix. He lands on line with good extension to home, and there is some arm speed present. He threw his slider at 74 mph and it showed sharp sweep across the zone with late break. His curveball had 11-5 shape with good sink at 67 mph.

Nathan O'Donnell (2025 RHP, New Lenox, IL) is a young prospect who showed big upside on both sides of the ball today. The primary pitcher displayed a loose arm with plenty of arm speed to project on, and he ran his fastball up to 82 mph. He threw a full, four pitch mix as well with good action to each. At the plate, he made some noise by hitting a double into the opposite field gap, flashing his quick hands and barrel control.

Dylan Bass (2022 OF, Northbrook, IL) flashed some impressive arm strength on the mound in this one, running his fastball up to 87 mph multiple times. He stands at a physical and athletic, 6-foot-3, 195-pounds, and he has a long and loose arm action with definite arm speed present. Although he is a primary outfielder (and he added an hard hit single later in the game), there could be some potential upside on the mound with added development/refinement.

Ethan Bass (2026 SS, Northbrook, IL) was impressive in all facets today. He put together some quality at-bats at the plate, along with running his fastball up to 81 mph on the mound. He has plenty of athleticism and arm speed to project on, and he certainly has an advanced skillset for his age. His name will be one to follow very closely moving forward.

Hank Liss (2023 RHP, Evanston, IL) was solid on the bump today for the Gold Team, as he sat 82-85 mph with an intriguing curveball/slider combo. He throws his off speed pitches from different slots, as he drops down to side arm on the slider. He has a large frame with a lean and athletic build, and the delivery is clean and balanced. The body and arm speed project well, and he is a solid uncommitted find for any schools looking for an arm to add to their 2023 recruiting classes.

Kendall Lyons (2022 RHP, Gurnee, IL) was utterly dominant from start to finish in this one for the Gold Team. He sat 87-89 mph and featured both a curveball and a slider with extremely sharp and late bite. Really impressive stuff from the Illinois-Chicago commit.

Sam Rohlfing (2023 MIF, Hoffman Estates, IL) put together one of the most complete performances all day, as he impressed with the bat and with his glove at shortstop. He came ready to hit, as he picked up the first single of the game via a hard-hit base knock up the middle. He creates good separation within the swing, and his hands are quick and can adjust to any pitch location. Later in the game, he crushed a ball into the pull side gap for a double. In addition to his offensive prowess, he also made a nice play at shortstop, ranging up the middle and making a throw on the move. He is a fluid and athletic mover who projects well on both sides of the ball.

Kade Schneider (2023 OF, South Barrington, IL) picked up two-hard hit base knocks in game action. His first hit was a line drive down the first base line, where he kept his hands inside and collected a double on a tough pitch. He hit another double in his next at bat, smoking a line drive into the pull side gap. He proved to have definite power potential in his left-handed swing.

Batting Practice Highlights >>

1/17/2022 10:55:04 PM

Jimmy Downs (2025 3B, Midlothian, IL) showed good leverage and advanced strength for his age in his swing, showing the ability to lift and separate pull-side with jump and impact.

Nathan O'Donnell (2025 RHP, New Lenox, IL) showed off impressive bat speed and leverage to his swing, turning the barrel well out front and impacting the ball on a line to all fields.

Finn O'Meara (2023 3B, Clarendon Hills, IL) does a nice job of separating and getting in a good launch spot, accelerating uphill and showing off good power to the pull-side.

Antonio Barnes (2023 SS, Highland, IN) showed some of the better physical strength of this event, doing a good job catching the ball out front on plane and getting it into the air with impressive jump pull-side.

Kade Schneider (2023 OF, South Barrington, IL), a switch-hitter, showed off real hitting tools from both sides. The lefthanded swing has a bit more loft at present, with excellent jump off the barrel and consistent power, with similar bat speed on a flatter path from the right.

Gael Urbieta (2025 C, Chicago, IL) took a very consistent round, generating good bat speed on a linear path and consistently finding the barrel authoritatively on lower-launch liners, using the whole field while doing so.

Zachary Pyles (2024 3B, Gurnee, IL) has some of the best power of the event, showing the ability to absolutely hammer baseballs when on time and on plane. The power to the pull-side stands way out, and he'll make some ballparks look quite small.

Alexander Clark (2024 OF, Glencoe, IL) does a nice job repeating his swing and staying committed to the middle of the field, showing the ability to consistently square up liners on pitches all over the zone and projecting well for power.

Matteo Nolasco (2025 C, Long Grove, IL) swings the bat with great intent and has the bat speed to do damage, really striking the ball hard consistently with the barrel out front and good projection on his body for more strength.

Ryan Quinlan (2023 MIF, Huntley, IL) has very good strength to his frame and the bat speed stands out as well, doing a nice job of repeating that stroke with linear impact to all fields throughout the round.

David Cox (2024 SS, Oak Brook, IL) has impressive physicality and that strength shows up in his swing, getting the ball into the air pull-side with big jump and impressive overall power projection.

Ryan Groberski (2024 1B, Lockport, IL) repeats his swing well consistently, generating solid bat speed on a linear plane with a middle-field approach, consistently peppering the back wall with hard rising liners.

Troy Vosburgh (2023 SS, Oswsego, IL) has good bat speed and the physical projection that portends big power gains, doing a nice job of consistently being on the barrel all over the zone with a whole-field, line drive approach.

Joey Spano Jr. (2024 SS, Erie, PA) took one of the loudest rounds of the day, with very advanced bat speed joined with a barrel that is on plane early and often to create very good hitting tools, and has the makings of a high-level prospect.
