TJ Thacker (2024 1B, Fayetteville, GA) came out of the shoot running his fastball up to 81-mph with life through the zone which collected plenty of swing and miss throughout his start. Thacker showcases a clean delivery with balance and rhythm and pairs it with a three-quarter arm action with plenty of extension out front on his heater. When all was said and done, Thacker would exit after two with two punchouts and over 60% of his mix landing for strikes. Thacker would showcase his bat once again for the second time today, with nice twitch, hand-eye, and bat speed during his first at-bat as he reached with a double. Thacker’s athleticism and ability to run the bases helped him score from second the next at-bat, scoring the winning run for his club.
Michael Zito (2024 MIF, Milton, GA) continued to produce at the plate during his second game of the day as he once again stayed aggressive at the plate and jumped on an early fastball making loud, barreled contact with line drive result into the backside gap. Zito displayed nice first step quickness out of the box and underway speed as he was able to leg out an easy double.
Keegan Mahoney (2023 OF, Arlington, VA) was impressive all start long as he worked through his two-inning outing, stranding 1 hit, and collecting 2 punchouts. Mahoney displays pitchability on the mound and a clean, up-tempo to his delivery which helped him fill the zone with his mix from his three-quarter slot. To work through his assignment, Mahoney showcased a fastball up to 80-mph and a 66-mph curveball with developing feel and 10-4 shape. Mahoney would also do his job at the plate, and displayed some hitability and hand-eye, as he turned on a 80+ mph fastball on the ground, allowing runners in scoring position to advance, and break the scoreless tie, putting Red up 1-0 in the top of the first.
Seth Gregg (2023 MIF, Franklin, TN) was able to collect a hit in each game he played today during his club’s double header. At the plate, Gregg sticks to a see-ball-hit-ball approach which leads to plenty of barreled contact especially to the pull side. Seth’s single through the 5-6 hole, came in the top of the 1st in a hitter’s count, as he met a fastball with extension out front, and drove it through the infield for a single. With athleticism and wherewithal on the bases, Gregg was able to go station to station and eventually score giving his club an early lead.
Zeke Kimbrell (2023 SS, Atlanta, GA) continued to hit today as he punched a double to the pull-side wall during his second at-bat, driving in the winning run in the bottom of the fourth. Kimbrell displayed nice first step quickness out of the box and coasted into second on the result as well.
Neal Porter (2025 SS, Tallahassee, FL) came on in a relief appearance and worked two scoreless innings where he worked ahead of the majority of the batters he faced. With a simple, stretch-only delivery and a clean arm-action, Porter filled the zone over 50%. Neal was able to fill the zone with his mix of a fastball up to 79-mph, and a curveball that tunneled well off the heater up to 67-mph, adding to its effectiveness and collecting a lot of swing and miss. As he went, Neal started to get crafty and locate a mid-50’s knuckleball in the high 50’s, he was able to locate for strikes.
