2021 Fall Atlantic Coast Showcase (10/30/2021 - 10/31/2021)

4-Columbia Blue vs 6-Green Game Highlights >>

10/31/2021 8:29:26 PM

Erik Anderson (2022 SS, Matthews, NC) had an electric outing on the mound in the final game of the day.  Lean with an athletic frame, he worked 85-87 with good downhill action on his FB and mixed in a breaking ball to keep hitters off balance on his way to punching out 5 in his 2 innings.

Dalen Boykin (2024 RHP, Zebulon, NC) showed well in his appearance on the mound.  He has a young body with an already physical build and came right at hitters with a three-pitch mix.  His FB sat 80-82 T83 and also featured a tight spinning CB with late action and the makings of a CH.  He struck out 6 in 3 innings.

Colton Penner (2023 C, Matthews, NC) had a nice day at the dish ending a home run shy of the cycle with a pair of RBIs to go with it. Medium frame with a solid build, he showed the ability to get the barrel to balls on the inner half of the plate with authority and drive them to the pull side.

Tucker Love (2022 SS, Yorktown, VA) showed very good bat speed over the course of the weekend, picking up a couple of loud hits.  The ODU commit consistently found the barrel and drove the ball through the middle of the field.  Defensively, he showed good athleticism and arm strength in the infield.

Nate Conner (2023 1B, Johnson City, TN) has a nice left handed stroke that resulted in a pair of loud hits, including an RBI triple.  A physical presence in the box, he utilized a pull heavy approach and ran the bases well.  Defensively, he showed good arm strength from both the outfield and infield.

3-Black vs 5-Gold Game Highlights >>

10/31/2021 6:39:01 PM

Collin Snyder (2023 C, Spotsylvania, VA) got on the bump and punched out the side to finish the game.  The physical, large framed RHP came right at the hitters, throwing strikes on 11/15 pitches to get out of the inning.  He featured a heavy, sinking FB up to 85 and a wipe out SL in the mid-70s.

Connor Radford (2025 SS, Lucama, NC) put together an impressive performance this afternoon.  The lean, medium built RHH had a pair of singles in his two ABs and showed a gap to gap approach with the ability to square up the baseball.  Later, he got on the mound and threw two clean innings with 5 punchouts, working at 79-80 with his FB and mixing in a good SL at 72-73.

Tyler Sampson (2022 SS, Aberdeen, MD) jumped all over a first pitch FB for a loud 2-run triple to LCF. The lean, long framed RHH showed fluid movements with plenty of room to add strength.

Wyatt Stanley (2023 1B, Colfax, NC) performed well both at the dish and on the mound this afternoon.  The solid built LHH picked up a well hit double to the gap in RCF, driving in a run in the process.  In his inning of work on the mound, he flashed a three-pitch mix on his way to striking out a pair of hitters.

5-Gold vs 6-Green Game Highlights >>

10/31/2021 1:24:29 AM

Sam Maclaughlin (2023 LHP, Toronto, ON) turned in an impressive line this evening, punching out 7 batters over 3 innings.  The lean lefty operated from a 3/4 slot and was 79-82 with his FB which he complimented with a slurvy breaking ball at 67-69 and CH at 73.

Levi Gingerich (2023 RHP, Cary, NC) attacked hitters for 3 innings with a solid three pitch mix.  The solid, large frame worked aggressively to the zone with his FB at 82-84 and mixed in a CB at 69 and low-mid 70s CH. Punched out six in his three innings of work.

Mitch Jones (2023 SS, Greenville, NC) worked the middle of the field for a couple of solid hits including a double.  A twitchy athlete with strong hands at contact that produces gap to gap power.  The Virginia Tech commit turned in one of the best 60 times of the event earlier in the day.

Cohen Bettencourt (2025 C, Charlotte, NC) impacted the games on both sides of the ball tonight.  He made a nice sliding stop in the hole at SS and showed good arm strength in throwing out the batter at first.  Leading off the following inning, he lined a double into the off gap in RCF.  Current athleticism with plenty of projection left in his young frame.

3-Black vs 4-Columbia Blue >>

10/30/2021 11:56:15 PM

Griffin Dawes (2023 OF, Chapel Hill, NC) showed well in all aspects of the game this afternoon. He picked up a couple of knocks, a ground rule double to LF and run scoring single to CF.  Later, he saved extra bases with a diving catch in CF.

Matthew Aldridge (2025 OF, Greenville, NC) lashed a triple to the LCF gap.  A very projectable LHH with long levers and good athleticism, he showed good bat to ball skills with developing power to all fields.

Christian Kalac (2022 RHP, Huntersville, NC) picked up 6 strikeouts over his 3 innings of work.  Medium build with a solid lower half, his FB got on hitters and could throw his slurvy breaking ball for a strike in any count.

Cole Huett (2025 OF, Corydon, IN) lined a triple over the centerfielder's head before coming around to score later in the inning.  A lean LHH, he showed good athleticism in the box and found the barrel in all of his at bats.

Zach Russell (2024 SS, Charleston, SC) flashed a couple of good pitches in his FB and SL. A lean, athletic presence on the mound, his FB worked at 82-84 and flashed a true SL at 72-75 with some swing and miss to it.  Very projectable with two-way potential.

Michael Harpster (2023 RHP, Lynchburg, VA) had a clean, efficient two innings of work on the mound. He has a loose, whippy arm action that generates a 84-86 FB with life and low-70s SL with good spin.  Still has some projection left to his very lean frame.

Batting Practice Highlights >>

10/30/2021 6:18:57 PM

Collin Snyder (2023 C, Spotsylvania, VA) is a big and strong right handed hitter with some serious bat speed.  He can simplify his swing approach but when the barrel is on time there is some serious jump and carry.

Brian O'Connell (2023 C, Greensboro, NC) had a plus round of barrels with line drive contact to all fields.  It's a simple upper body swing with limited lower half shift but O'Connell has strength in his hands and was very well timed.

Joey Chitla (2024 2B, Raleigh, NC) is another young right handed hitter who can get more lower half into his swing but who makes up for it with an accurate barrel and good hand quickness and strength.  He worked gap to gap with some jump.

Erik Anderson (2022 SS, Matthews, NC) is one of the best athletes at the event and has an athletic right handed swing with good bat speed.  He gets good hip action to drive his swing and is loose and fluid through the ball.

Billy Fluharty (2023 SS, Spotsylvania, VA) hits from a straight right handed stance with a clean and simple line drive swing.  He gets some hand action out front and showed he could turn the barrel with good bat speed and accuracy.

Aj Malzone (2023 C, Manteno, IL) has a strong, well conditioned 5-11/180 build and the bat speed to go with.  He got nice carry to the middle of the field and projects well to keep improving.

Sohrab Rezaei (2023 SS, Chicago, IL) has a quick twitch 5-8/155 build and a strong and short right handed swing.  He made consistent hard gap to gap line drive contact and even opened up his swing late for a ground rule double to left field.

Wyatt Stanley (2023 1B, Colfax, NC) is a big and strong left handed hitter with a consistent and well control power approach.  He drops the back shoulder and gets the ball in the air with big back spin and carry.

Mitch Jones (2023 SS, Greenville, NC) gets hard rotation in his right handed swing and creates lots of raw bat speed.  He's a Virginia Tech commit.

Tucker Love (2022 SS, Yorktown, VA) is a switch-hitter with an Old Dominion scholarship who shows next level ability from both sides of the plate.
