Batting Practice Highlights
8/15/2018 10:52:08 AM

Michael Brown (2020, 1B, Vacaville, CA) has some of the biggest left handed power seen in a long time at this level.  He capped off his batting practice with a jaw dropping bomb onto the roof of the U San Diego dorms beyond the right field fence and net.

Zavien Watson (2020 3B, San Diego, CA) is an extra strong young right handed hitter at 6-1/205 with a simple swing approach that uses his strength well.  The ball jumps hard off his barrel.

Petey Halpin (2020 OF, San Mateo, CA) has very quick hands from the left side of the plate and is very short to the ball as well.  The ball jumps off his bat to all fields.

Chad Born (2020 OF, Placentia, CA) has the ability to square up almost everything with hard contact to all fields.  He's going to keep driving it harder as he continues to fill out his 6-1/170 frame.

Jordan Thompson (2020 SS, Chula Vista, CA) showed improved bat speed from the last time observed with a quick and extended swing that drove the ball up the gaps.

Jake Vogel (2020 OF, Huntington Beach, CA) has a loose and extended right handed swing and got surprising carry on the ball for a 160 pound athlete.

Kevin Sim (2020 3B, San Diego, CA) has both strength and quickness in his hands and some natural lift in his swing as well.  He hit line drive after line drive with impressive carry off the barrel.

Kevin Parada (2020 C, Pasadena, CA) has very quick hands and plenty of raw strength.  He created very good right handed bat speed and the ball came off his barrel hard.

Orlando Salinas (2020 SS, Corpus Christi, TX) has exceptionally quick and strong hands from the left side, although his pronounced hitch to get his bat going may need adjusting in the future.

Cayden Wallace (2020 3B, Greenbrier, AR) is one of the strongest players in the 2020 class, with an easy right handed swing that produces power to all fields.

Slade Wilks (2020 OF, Columbia, MS) gave a preview of his long game home run by crushing the ball in batting practice as well.  He uses his lower half very well and takes a full and aggressive swing at the ball.

Jace Bohrofen (2020 OF, Oklahoma City, OK) has a loose and projectable 6-2/180 build and a very sound swing with present bat speed from the left side and more to come.

Gage Boehm (2020 1B, Taylor, TX) is a Texas sized first baseman at 6-4/245 but has an impressively short and adjustable swing for someone his size and strength.  He should be able to adjust quickly as he faces better and better pitching.

Mario Zabala (2020 OF, San Juan, PR) has dynamic right handed bat speed with a very simple and direct approach.  He lined multiple top spin home runs to left field simply by overpowering the baseball.

Robert Hassell III (2020 OF, Franklin, TN) is a strong 6-2/190 left handed hitter with plus present bat speed and an aggressive hitting approach.  He worked the middle of the field with a level line drive swing.

CJ Pittaro (2020 SS, Hamilton, NJ) has the type of short and efficient swing that one would expect out of the son of a big league hitter.  He's going to hit for a high average with developing power over the next few years as he gets stronger.

G Allen (2020 3B, Little Rock, AR) is listed as a switch-hitter but only hit left handed and one can see why.  He had very good raw bat speed with a fluid and simple swing that maximized square contact.

Isaiah Jackson (2020 OF, Savoy, IL) is a long and slender 6-5/180 and has impressive bat speed for his build.  When he gets the ball in the air it really carries, showing the type of leverage he has at contact.

Blaze Jordan (2021 1B, Southaven, MS) has so much strength and raw bat speed that he doesn't need to load up to drive the ball a long way.  It will be fun to watch when he learns that he can hit the ball out from foul line to foul line  and doesn't need to turn on the ball.

Kelly Crumpton (2021 SS, Jackson, MS) is another 2021 right handed hitter who has the strength and bat speed to hit the ball out to any field and showed big power to centerfield during batting practice.  At 6-3/175, Crumpton's projectable power is top of the scale.

Lane Forsythe (2020 SS, Humboldt, TN) has a very advanced fundamental swing approach and consistently drove the ball hard from alley to alley despite his 5-10/155 middle infielder's build.

Trippe Moore (2020 OF, Forsyth, GA) has a quick twitch right handed swing that generates very good bat speed and consistent barrel.  He's a slender 6-1/175 and is going to get stronger.

Jordan Walker (2020 3B, Stone Mountain, GA) has a long 6-4/195 build and lots of present bat speed.  He drove the ball hard and consistently up the left centerfield gap and has plus projection to keep improving.

Roberto Moya (2020 C, Miami, FL) is a present strong 6-0/200 right handed hitter with power approach at the plate that he executes very well.  He hit some bombs with an easy lifting swing.

Hunter Haas (2020 SS, Phoenix, AZ) is a projectable middle infielder with plenty of bat speed and aggressiveness at the plate.  He hit the ball especially hard when he was able to keep his weight back.

Isaac Rodriguez (2021 SS, Murrieta, CA) has a loose and extended right handed swing that produced hard middle of the field line drive contact.

Matt Clark (2021 OF, Upland, CA) is a young right handed hitter with an easy low effort swing with some strength behind it for his age.  He made solid middle of the field line drive contact and projects to keep imprvoving.
