Connor Phillips (2019 RHP, Magnolia, TX) showed all kinds of big-time potential on the mound with a low-90s fastball up to 94. Phillips throws with minimal effort from a clean delivery getting lots of plane and sink. Phillips also threw a slider in the upper-70s with bite.
JJ Goss (2019 RHP, Cypress, TX) put together feel for a three pitch mix and good velocity to produce a nice pair of innings to start the game. Goss’s fastball sat 88-94 with lots of sink and featured a really nice slider. Goss struck out three hitters in his two innings but all together put a very impressive stint n the mound.
Erik Rivera (2019 OF, Caguas, PR) put on an outstanding showing in batting practice with his power and raw bat speed. He later took that swing to the game going the other way for a hard single squaring up the ball nicely. Rivera also went to the mound and topped out at 90 mph from his full lefthanded arm stroke and struck the side out in order.
Jason Diaz (2019 RHP, Franklin Square, NY) uses his lower half into his online delivery with good command of three pitches that he can throw in any count. Diaz struck out five batters with his lively fastball up to 93 mph, fading changeup, and low-80s slider. Diaz worked the corners mainly to armside from a full arm stroke. It is worth noting that his changeup projects really well.
Armani Sanchez (2019 SS, Houston, TX) went the other way for a double to right field. Sanchez hustled out of the box to stretch the hit into a double.
Mason Ornelas (2019 RHP, Fort Worth, TX) throws his fastball and curveball effectively for strikes from a full arm action and extended ¾ arm slot. Ornelas generates plenty of riding life on his fastball up to 92 mph. Ornelas worked both sides of the plate with both pitches with the curveball having lots of feel.
Davidjohn Herz (2019 LHP, Fayetteville, NC) gets good armside life on his fastball that peaked at 90 mph. Herz works mostly to the outer half of the plate to righthanders. The baseball comes out of Herz’s hand nicely from a long arm action mixing in a slider that comes from a similar tunnel as the upper-80s heater.
John Tyler 'JT' Mounce (2019 OF, Cypress, TX) grinded out a twelve pitch at-bat before ripping the ball through the pull side showing great plate coverage and barrel skills. Mounce got the barrel to the baseball on a pitch to the outer half and knocked it to right field.
Hayden Dunhurst (2019 C, Carriere, MS) displayed incredible catching tools behind the plate during drills and brought it to the game with elite catch and throw ability on back-to-back throw downs. Dunhurst popped a 1.91 second time to second base followed by a 1.93 time in game which was equally as impressive both times nabbing would be base stealers at second.
Ryan Sleeper (2019 LHP, Lakeville, MN) tallied five strike outs in his two innings. Sleeper creates angle on his fastball that sat 85-88 mph. The North Carolina commit pitches from a crossfire delivery and long arm action mixing three pitches well and varying speeds.
Austin Pace (2019 RHP, Barco, NC) peaked with his fastball at 91 mph from his 6-foot-11 215-pound frame. Pace projects really nicely on the mound with a three pitch mix getting outstanding extension out in front from his long frame.
Mason Auer (2019 OF, Springfield, MO) collected a pair of hits in the game while also showing good speed down the line. Auer put the barrel to the baseball with good bat to ball skills while beating out an infield single on his second hit running a 4.33-second home to first base time.
Cj Neese Jr's (2019 SS, Greensboro, NC) arm works well down the mound with three offerings. His fastball topped out at 91 mph from a full arm action. Neese Jr pounded the zone with a quick inning of work to finish the game off.
