Both Cam McGugan (2022 C, Groton, CT) and Sean McGee (2022 SS, Hanover, MA) singled on fastballs early in the first inning for the Columbia Blue team and both came around to score with McGee coming in on a Sean Aronson (2022 C, Virginia Beach, VA) single in which he went with a curveball into the opposite field.
Joshua Baez (2021 OF, Dorchester, MA) found another barrel in today’s action as he continued to show nice strength and bat speed for a loud single into the left-center field gap. He also worked quick inning on the mound and was up to 80 mph with his fastball.
Antonio DiGrigoli (2022 C, Brooklyn, NY) barreled up another ball to the middle of the field, creating loud contact coming off as he picked up an RBI on the single.
Gilbert Saunders III (2022 RHP, Gilbertsville, PA), a primary pitcher, connected for one of the louder and deeper pieces of the showcase with a deep double into left field. He also started on the mound and was up to 79 mph on the bump.
John Hernandez (2022 RHP, Boston, MA) promptly followed Saunders with a deep double of his own into left field for his first hit of the game.
Hernandez, above, would have had an RBI with his double if not for the strike that Ivan Arias (2022 SS, Boston, MA) delivered on the cut to get the runner at the plate. Arias also showed nice barrel skills at the plate as he picked up a line drive single into right field with an extended and loose stroke.
Aidan Paradine (2023 C, Bayonne, NJ) enjoyed a productive day at the plate going 2-for-3 with a couple of singles as well as picking up an RBI with knocks to center and right field.
