2014 Florida Top and Underclass

Florida Top Batting Practice Highlights
8/16/2014 10:14:47 PM
1B/3B Joe Genord (Lake Worth, FL) was a late add-on to the event but made his mark immediately, absolutely crushing the ball in batting practice with an aggressive right hand swing that showed outstanding bat speed.  The South Florida commit hits like he's angry with the baseball.

1B Michael Diaz (Lake Wales, FL) has a nice short left handed swing for a 6-foot-3, 175 projectable athlete with some present bat speed and more to come.  It's a high average approach now with some power down the road possible with adjustments.

C Carlos Pino (Miami, FL) has a strong prototypical catcher's build but a loose swing with an efficient shift and lots of present bat speed and power potential.

RHP Chase Evans (Jacksonville, FL) has a commitment to Florida Gulf Coast to pitch but might find some at bats at the college level with his strength and hard swing.

SS Jake Frasca (Darien, CT) came as far as anyone at the event (despite their being a PG Northeast Showcase this weekend) and took a very solid BP, showing gap power from a tall, narrow stance with lots of hard mid-field line drives.

C Emmanuel Bejerano (Palm Springs, FL), has a limited stride and shift but has a loose swing with good bat speed and made hard pull top spin contact.  A bit of shift and lower half use could really unlock some power.

OF Chris Matthias (Merritt Island, FL) has a short right handed swing and good present strength on his 6-foot-1, 190 pound frame.  The ball carried very well when squared.

C Trent Herzog (Pembroke Pines, FL) is a very strongly build catcher with a low hand set swing and very simple mechanics.  That resulted in very consistent hard pull contact with good lift for future power.
