2014 PG Underclass All American Games

East Team Highlights

2016 OF Cory Campbell (Cummings, GA) led off the first inning with a walk and scored the first run of the game. In his second trip to the plate he smoked a ball back through the box that left the bat at 97 mph for a single. He followed that up with the webgem of the game robbing a hit with a diving catch coming in on a ball in left field that looked certain to fall in for a bloop single.

2016 C Ryan January (Swampscott, MA) reached base in all three appearances, drawing a walk, getting hit by a pitch and crushing a double, and he would add a run. It was a good follow up to his BP round where he showed off his left handed power.

2016 1B Alex Kirilloff (New Kensington, PA) went 1-for-3 with a double but had an even better day at the plate than that line would suggest. While he has a strong pull tendency he did  a nice job of covering the outer part of the plate to get to a pitch away and extended through contact and made a couple of loud outs. His first base defense also stood out as the best of the event.

2016 C/OF Marc Coffers (Naples, FL) used a short compact swing path and tracks the ball well and picked up a single in three trips to the plate.

The trio of arms that took the mound in game one for the East was each impressive. 2016 RHP Connor Darling (Suwanee, GA) struck out four and walked just one while yielding two hits over three scoreless innings while working 84-88 with his fastball and supplementing it with a 79 mph slider and 81 mph changeup. 2016 RHP Zach Hess (Forest, VA) topped out at 89 mph for the top velocity of the game and paired that upper 80s fastball with a quality 79 mph slider and struck out three over three frames. 2016 Johnny Morrell (Temecula, CA) also worked in the mid-upper 80s at 84-88 as part of four pitch mix with a low 70s curveball, a 79 mph slider and a 76 mph changeup in addition to a strong swing at the plate.
