KC Grand Opening Scout Notes

Brian Justice (2025, Tulsa, Okla.) was impressive on both sides of the ball this weekend. He hit .400 on the weekend, drove in five runs and recorded a pair of singles. He is very physical with the bat and has good intent in his swings. On the mound he threw two scoreless innings and all six outs he recorded came by the way of the strikeout.

Easton Martin (2025, Inola, Okla.) is a switch-hitter who had a great all around showing. Hit .500 over the weekend, finding the barrel several times resulting in two extra-base hits. Showed good speed and instincts on the base paths. Played a solid center field with range and an accurate throwing arm.




Cooper Auschwitz (2025, Owasso, Okla.) showed two-way ability this weekend. He had one of the hardest hit balls all weekend on his double down the left field line. He has quick hands and a compact swing that can generate plenty of bat speed. He drove in five runs on the weekend, and also scored three runs, while also tossing a scoreless outing on the mound, showing a firm fastball and a breaking ball.


Cord Nolan (2026, Bixby, Okla.) is a switch-hitter who looked comfortable from both sides of the plate. He has a quiet and efficient stroke and he showed an all fields approach. Nolan drew two walks on the weekend, and scored two runs.
 

Luke Beeler (2025, Jenks, Okla.) is a two-way player who struck out six over two innings of work on the bump. Beeler showed an impressive fastball and slider mix that he filled the zone up with and generated several swings and misses. At the plate, he took aggressive swings and is real physical with the bat. There's plenty of pull-side power and has some loft to his swing.
 

Riley Hurst (2025, Pryor, Okla.) pitched 3 1/3 innings and struck out six batters. He showed a three-pitch mix (fastball, curveball, changeup) and was able to land all three offerings in the zone. He had some deception in the delivery and a good presence on the bump.
 
Isaac King (2025, Hulbert, Okla.) had an impressive weekend at the plate where he hit .400, scored two runs and drove in five. King played both catcher and third base and made some nice plays at each position. He did a good job of blocking balls when he was behind the plate and ranged well to both sides of his body at third base.


Brock Bales (2025, Cushing, Okla.) showed a very disciplined approach at the plate and tracks pitches well. Bales has an aggressive but under control swing that stays connected throughout the stroke. He showed an all-fields approach and hit an inside-the-park home run by driving a pitch to the opposite field. He also scored two runs on the weekend.
 
Eli Dean (2025, Perry, Kan.) was a tough out at the plate all weekend long. He went 6-for-7 including three doubles over four games. Dean has a good overall approach at the plate with good strike zone judgement. The center fielder made all the plays in the field with efficient routes to track down fly balls. On the mound, he showed good command of a fastball and overall threw four innings recording six strikeouts without issuing a walk.

Ernesto Lopez (2025, Kansas City, Kan.) showed off his skills on both sides of the ball. Lopez is a versatile infielder who played both second base and third base and made nice plays at both positions. With the bat, he hit .375 on the weekend while driving in five runs in the process. He also exhibited good plate discipline skills by drawing four walks on the weekend as well.

Deacon Pomeroy (2025, Topeka, Kan.) made a lot of loud contact throughout the weekend. He recorded five extra-base hits while showing the ability to hit to all fields. There's plenty of bat speed and good barrel control in his swing. Pomeroy worked well behind the plate with good footwork and effort on balls in the dirt.


Sam Bettis (2025, Topeka, Kan.) is a two-way standout from the weekend. On the mound, he struck out 10 batters over five innings of work and didn’t allow a hit or walk. He found the barrel multiple times at the plate over the weekend as well, including an RBI double to center field. He also handled the first base and left field positions well on the defensive side of the ball.
 
Max Huston (2025, Topeka, Kan.) showed off his glove skills by making several nice plays ranging to both sides of his body. He also shined at the plate by hitting .500 on the weekend along with six runs scored and eight RBI while hitting out of the leadoff spot. He also threw one scoreless frame on the mound and struck out two batters.

Cole Pladson (2025, Clay Center, Kan.) helped pitch his team to a tournament championship this weekend throwing four scoreless innings in the championship game. He showed good command of his pitches and filled up the zone throwing 65% of his pitches for strikes. Overall he allowed one hit and recorded five strikeouts in his championship game performance.

Easton Phillippe (2025, Kansas City, Mo.) reached safely in all four games he played this weekend, including base hits in three of those games. He handles the bat well from the left side and competes every at-bat. Phillippe worked hard behind the plate showing blocking skills and good footwork. He showed impressive receiving skills as well often working under the baseball and catching the ball square to his body.

Brody Irlbeck (2025, Kansas City, Mo.) had a great outing on the mound pitching his team to a win by tossing six innings and striking out 14 along the way. Irlbeck filled up the zone with a fastball/breaking ball combo throwing 68% of his pitches for strikes. The left-handed pitcher showed an impressive feel for pitching while changing hitters eye levels during at-bats. He has a great competitive demeanor pitching his team to the championship game.

Dillon Willis (2025, Maysville, Mo.) showed two-way ability this weekend. He had an RBI double to the right-center field gap with a good swing on a fastball, and also had a scoreless outing on the mound, striking out three batters over 2 1/3 innings. He threw 76% of his pitches for strikes and really challenged opposing batters with his fastball.

Jayden Hendricks (2025, Kansas City, Kan.) reached base all but one time at the plate this weekend with five total hits and five walks. He really showed the ability to barrel up the baseball to go along with good plate discipline. Hendricks played all over the field as well (catcher, third base, center field) showing good feel for all three spots defensively. He has good speed on the base paths and has present base running instincts. Hendricks was fun to watch play this weekend.
