College Top 25: Pre-postseason

Kendall Rogers

Louisiana-Lafayette is one of the great stories in college baseball this season, and after storming through the Sun Belt Conference tournament, it enters the NCAA postseason atop the latest Perfect Game College Top 25 rankings.

While the 53-7 Ragin’ Cajuns lead the way in the rankings, the rest of the top five includes Oregon State, Florida, Florida State and Cal Poly. OSU dropped a tough road series to USC last weekend, while the Gators vaulted from No. 10 to No. 3 after a strong showing in the Southeastern Conference tournament.

LSU and Indiana also are big movers this week, vaulting from No’s 13 and 15, respectively, to No’s 7 and 9. Meanwhile, red-hot TCU, which won the Big 12 tournament, moved from No. 18 to No. 11, and Nebraska, which performed well in the Big Ten tournament, moves into the top 20.

Texas Tech and Alabama dropped out of this week’s rankings, while the new entrants include West Coast Conference regular season and tourney champion Pepperdine at No. 23 and Kentucky, which had a strong showing in its conference tournament last week.

The final College Top 25 will be released following the College World Series.
