National HS Top 50: March 17

The top ten welcomed one new member to the club this week as San Diego powerhouse Rancho Bernardo moves up three spots to land at No. 8 on the merit of a 3-0 start. The Broncos are the defending Open Division champions in the San Diego Section and boast one of the nation's top prospects in senior Alex Jackson, who has his first home run of the season under his belt. They faced a strong opening week schedule with two of their three first opponents expected to compete for the postseason.

No. 11 Pearland (Texas) is now flirting with a top ten berth after winning both of their contests this past week to move to 14-1 on the season. The Oilers are the second highest ranked team from the Lone Star State, with Cypress Ranch maintaining it's pole position by going 2-0 this week as well, climbing two spots this week to No. 7 in the nation. Texas gained one new representative in the National Top 50 this week, as Southlake Carroll debuted at No. 40.

Owasso (Okla.) won't run the table again like it did last year, losing their first game since 2012 this week. They slip from No. 5 to No. 9 after a 3-1 start but still appear to the clear favorite in Oklahoma 6A this year. Oklahoma's other entrant in the National Top 50, 5A Carl Albert, broke out the bats and bludgeoned their two opponents by a combined score of 34-1. Carl Albert moves up to No. 25 this week.

Other new additions this week include: No. 23 Hagerty (Fla.), No. 39 Flanagan (Fla.), No. 41 Marist (Ga.), No. 44 Parkview (Ga.) and No. 49 Hardin Valley (Tenn.)
