The skinny:  After a slugging performance against Sam Houston State on Friday, third baseman Tyler Girouard made sure the Ragin’ Cajuns didn’t go 0-2, recording three hits and knocking in there runs in a dominant win over Jackson State. Meanwhile, Jace Conrad had a hit and four RBIs … In the nightcap, LSU right-handed pitcher Aaron Nola didn’t get off to a great start, but settled in and threw up six zeroes after the first inning. The skinny: Virginia Tech stayed alive in the Blacksburg Regional with right-handed pitcher Devin Burke leading the charge, allowing just a run on five hits in a complete game performance. Meanwhile, at the plate, talented hitters Chad Pinder and Mark Zagunis each hit homers, while catcher Mark Zagunis had four hits and three RBIs … In the nightcap, the Sooners pulled out an extra-inning affair with relievers Ralph Garza and Kyle Hayes rising to the occasion. Garza allowed just a run -- not earned -- on two hits in four innings, while Hayes finished out the final 2 1/3 innings in scoreless fashion.

The skinny: Florida’s very tumultuous campaign finally came to an end Saturday afternoon in a tough loss to Valparaiso. The Gators were unable to master Valpo closer Kyle Wormington, who was fabulous to finish the contest, striking out three and allowing just three hits in three scoreless innings of work … Indiana’s offense is flat out nasty when it gets rolling along, and it got rolling Saturday afternoon in a dominant win over Austin Peay. Talented first baseman Sam Travis had a huge day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a home run, four runs scored and three RBIs, while Scott Donley had two hits and four RBIs. The Hoosiers are now in the driver’s seat to win the Bloomington Regional, no surprise, though.

The skinny: Florida Atlantic unleashed its beats on the Golden Griffins Saturday afternoon with leadoff hitter Nathan Pittman hitting a double, home run, finishing the day with three hits, along with four RBIs. Meanwhile, Corey Keller also had a huge day at the plate, slamming two homers and knocking in two runs … Towson put North Carolina left-handed pitcher Kent Emanuel on the ropes, but the Tar Heels were able to take care of business in an 8-5 win. Michael Russell had three hits and three RBIs for the Heels, while first baseman Cody Stubbs hits his sixth home run in the contest.

Dick went 3-for-4 with a double, home run and an RBI to lead the charge, while Matt Keeler had three hits and two RBIs … In the nightcap, Virginia starting pitcher Scott Silverstein struck out six, walked two and allowed just six hits in six shutout frames, while Elon starting pitcher Spencer Medick also put together a great start, allowing just two runs on nine hits in a complete game performance.

The skinny: With their backs against the wall in Columbia, the Tigers rose to the occasion at the plate with second baseman Steve Wilkerson had a huge day at the plate, going 2-for-5 with a home run and five RBIs, while third baseman Shane Kennedy also had a huge day, going 3-for-5 with a home run and an RBI … South Carolina isn’t known as an amazing offensive club, but the Gamecocks sure looked like it in a dominant win over Liberty. Kyle Martin had three hits, including a home run, and four RBIs, while outfielder Tanner English, known for his speed and defensive skills, hit his first career home run.?

Ray struck out eight, walked one and allowed a run on five hits in 8 2/3 innings of work … In the nightcap, Oregon State freshman right-handed pitcher Andrew Moore willed his way to another dominant start, striking out six, walking two and allowing two runs, one earned, on five hits in eight innings of work.

Starting pitcher Christian Cecilio put together a solid start for the Dons, allowing just a run on five hits in five innings of work, while at the plate, versatile outfielder Bradley Zimmer had two hits and an RBI … Rice right-handed pitcher Jordan Stephens put together the best start of his collegiate career thus far in a 1-0 win over Oregon. Stephens struck out 11, walked two and allowed just two hits in a complete game shutout. At the plate, second baseman Christian Stringer led the Owls with a perfect 3-for-3 day.?

The skinny: Columbia had an afternoon to remember at the Fullerton Regional as Nick Crucet hit an RBI single in the 13th inning to give the Lions a 6-5 lead and win over New Mexico. Crucet went 2-for-5 with three RBIs in the game, capping off an incredible comeback, earlier scoring five runs in the eighth inning earlier in the contest … In the nightcap, Cal State Fullerton right-handed pitcher Justin Garza was terrific in a win over Arizona State. Garza struck out nine, didn’t walk anyone and allowed four hits in 8 1/3 shutout frames, while closer Michael Lorenzen was fantastic in the ninth inning, touching 99 on the radar gun the final pitch of the contest.

The skinny: San Diego right-handed starting pitcher Dylan Covey willed his way to a solid outing against San Diego State, allowing three runs on four hits in 7 2/3 innings of work, while Troy Conyers closed things out on the mound with a 1 1/3 shutout frames to lead the Toreros. For the Aztecs, hard-throwing right-handed pitcher Michael Cederoth was lifted early in the game after allowing four runs on two hits in 4 1/3 innings. He also walked four batters … UCLA seemed stymied by Cal Poly starting pitcher Matt Imhof early in the contest, but eventually got to him for four runs on three hits in 5 1/3 innings of work. The UCLA bullpen did a marvelous job with James Kaprielian and David Berg leading the charge, while at the plate, Eric Filia had two hits and an RBI.

The skinny: Oklahoma State kept its postseason hopes alive with a 7-3 win over Bowling Green on Saturday. OSU left-handed pitcher Tyler Nurdin put together an impressive start in the victory, striking out five, walking two and allowed three runs, two earned, on seven hits in seven innings of work. Meanwhile, shortstop Randy McCurry had two hits and two RBIs … In the nightcap, Miami left-handed pitcher Bryan Radziewski had a very good start against Louisville, but the Cardinals eventually erupted offensively in the contest. On the mound, right-handers Jeff Thompson and Nick Burdi shined. Thompson allowed a run in six innings, while Burdi closed out the contest with three strikeouts in two shutout frames.

The skinny: The Hogs felt good about their chances of winning Saturday afternoon with right-handed pitcher Ryne Stanek on the mound. He was, in a few words, effectively wild against the Shockers. Stanek struck out three, walked six and allowed a run on two hits in 7 1/3 innings of work. Meanwhile, Michael Gunn and hard-throwing Colby Suggs closed out the contest on the mound, while outfielder Tyler Spoon had two hits and two RBIs … In the nightcap, KSU leadoff hitter Ross Kivett had two hits and an RBI to lead the KSU offense over Bryant, while on the mound, Joe Flattery allowed just a run on seven hits in five innings, while Nate Williams threw 1 2/3 innings of shutout baseball and Jake Matthys 2 1/3 innings the same to earn his eighth save.

The skinny: Georgia Tech senior right-handed pitcher Buck Farmer put together yet another impressive performance in a 5-1 win over East Tennessee State. Farmer, who only threw 58 pitches in the contest, struck out eight, didn’t allow a walk and allowed just two hits in six shutout frames, while Jonathan Roberts was solid out of the pen, allowing just a run and a hit in three innings … The Fighting Illini were able to keep things close for a while against Vanderbilt, but the ‘Dores, especially outfielder Mike Yastrzemski, were too much. Yastrzemski had a huge day at the plate, going 3-for-6 with two doubles, a triple and two RBIs, while leadoff hitter Tony Kemp had four hits and third baseman Xavier Turner had three hits and three RBIs.

The skinny: Ole Miss was forced to go with ace right-handed pitcher Bobby Wahl in the elimination game against Binghamton, and he didn’t disappoint, allowing two runs in seven innings of work. Meanwhile, the Rebels were able to score some runs late in the game. Austin Anderson went 4-for-5 with an RBI, while four Rebels had two-hit performances … There’s just something about the NCAA postseason that brings about the best in N.C. State left-handed pitcher Carlos Rodon. Rodon struck out 10, didn’t walk anyone and allowed just two hits in a complete game shutout win over William & Mary. Rodon threw 111 pitches, 78 for strikes. In five postseason starts (including ACC tournament) in two seasons thus far, Rodon has struck out 45 and walked nine and allowed just three earned runs on 12 hits in 37 2/3 innings.

The skinny: UCA starting pitcher Jeffrey Enloe had just an OK performance against Mercer, allowing four runs on nine hits in six innings of work. However, Bryce Biggerstaff was absolutely terrific out of the bullpen for the Bears, striking out three, walking two and allowing just a run and a hit in five innings of work. UCA leadoff hitter Forrestt Allday had two hits, one a double, while catcher Michael Marietta had two hits and two RBIs … In the day’s finale, South Alabama chased Mississippi State left-handed pitcher Luis Pollorena after just 3 2/3 innings, but it got a tough matchup in State reliever Ross Mitchell. Mitchell was terrific out of the pen, striking out five, walking no one and allowing four hits in 5 1/3 shutout frames. At the plate, designated hitter Alex Detz had a double and three RBIs, while second baseman Brett Pirtle had two hits and two RBIs.

The skinny: Alabama young right-handed pitcher Mike Oczypok, for the second-straight week, tossed an absolute gem for his club in a 3-2 win over Savannah State. The righty struck out four, walked one and allowed just six hits in seven shutout frames. At the plate, leadoff hitter Kenny Roberts finished the game with three hits … Florida State flexed its muscles in impressive fashion Saturday afternoon in a dominant 11-0 win over Troy. Freshman DJ Stewart had a home run, two hits and two RBIs to lead the cause, while first baseman John Nogowski hit a home run and knocked in three runs. On the mound, FSU sophomore right-hander Luke Weaver was absolutely terrific, striking out a career-high 14, walking no one and allowing just four hits in eight innings. Weaver threw 115 pitches, 82 for strikes.
