College Top 25: Back in business

Kendall Rogers

North Carolina is the model of consistency this season, and it remains the nation's top-ranked team in the latest Perfect Game College Top 25 after yet another fantastic week, going 5-0 with a weekend series sweep over rival Duke.

After the Tar Heels, the next three teams remain the same with LSU, Vanderbilt and Cal State Fullerton leading the charge. Meanwhile, Virginia, which swept Florida State at home over the weekend, vaulted from No. 7 to No. 5.

Also notable in the top-10 of the rankings, North Carolina State, which is one of the nation's hottest teams right now, moved from No. 16 to No. 6 after sweeping a huge ACC road series against Georgia Tech, while UCLA is back in the elite 10 after hitting the road and taking an important series over Oregon.

Elsewhere around the rankings, Georgia Tech dropped from No. 13 to No. 19 after getting swept over the weekend, Rice is back in the top 20 after winning an important rivalry series against Houston, and both UNC Wilmington and Mercer gained ground, moving to No's 21 and 23, respectively.

Clemson and Cal Poly, which dropped series to Miami and Cal State Fullerton, respectively, moved out of this week's rankings, while Gonzaga and Stanford, which had good weeks, were the key beneficiaries.

The Perfect Game College Top 25 is released each Monday during the season.
