Dan Slania is a hard guy to miss on a baseball field. At 6-foot-5, 275 pounds, he's an imposing, burly presence on the mound. But, don't let the body type fool you. Slania is just as much about his feel for pitching and advanced approach as he is about raw power. The Notre Dame right-hander opened a lot of eyes in the Cape Cod League last summer with his combination of raw fastball life and command, but even before that Slania had piled up quite the track record over his first two years of college ball. And, given his skill set, it's possible he could profile as something more than a reliever.

Slania is not your typical college closer. Typically, even the most highly touted college relievers have something working against them that limits them to that role - they are either undersized, have a max effort delivery, a rough arm action, a limited arsenal, or all of the above. Dan Slania doesn't quite fit into the mold, literally or figuratively.
