The Wildcats entered the season with an impressive crop of veterans, very much expected to compete for a College World Series appearance. They did that and much more, going 10-0 in the NCAA postseason on the way to the program's first national title since 1986.
For everything the Wildcats accomplished on the diamond, they finish the season ranked atop the Perfect Game College Baseball Rankings.
South Carolina, of course, is No. 2 behind the Wildcats, while the top five is rounded out by No. 3 Florida State, No. 4 UCLA and No. 5 Arkansas. Meanwhile, Florida comes in at No. 6 and Kent State and Stony Brook, also CWS participants, come in at No's 7 and 8, respectively.
In terms of conference breakdown in the rankings: SEC (7), Pac-12 (6), ACC (3), Big 12 (3), Mountain West (1), America East (1), Big Ten (1), MAC (1), Conference USA (1) and Big East (1).
The Perfect Game rankings were a listing of the nation's Top 50 teams for much of the season, but conclude for the year in traditional Top 25 format.
