RHP
Lance McCullers (Tampa Jesuit HS, FL): McCullers got hit pretty
hard but he still topped out at 100 on the scoreboard (I heard more
like 98 on the scouts guns) and flashed the hard curveball and change
up that could become plus pitches. His pitchability still has to
improve but it’s hard to argue with the raw stuff.
RHP
Lucas Sims (Brookwood HS, Lawrenceville, GA): Sims topped out at
98 on the scoreboard but pitched consistently at 92-94 mph. His
change up and curveball are both potential plus pitches and he has a
very high degree of confidence in his change.
RHP
Carson Fulmer (All Saints Academy, Lakeland, FL): Despite his
max effort delivery, Fulmer has all the ingredients of a top of the
line starter. He sits at 94-95 and his low 80’s curveball and
change up give him three quality pitches that he consistently throws
for strikes.
RHP
Clate Schmidt (Alatoona HS, Acworth, GA): Schmidt’s mechanics
resemble McCullers and his stuff is similar to Sims, with not quite
the quality or consistency to his secondary pitches. He has
relatively limited pitching experience, so expect those secondary
pitches to continue to improve with time.
RHP
Walker Weickel (Olympia HS, Orlando, FL): Weickel was clearly
the most polished of the top prospect pitchers in Lakeland, he
commanded the bottom of the strike zone like a pro with 3 pitches.
His issue now is that both his curveball and change up lack firmness.
