Florida

Archbishop McCarthy moves up to the top spot after a pair of impressive wins during the week. Gulliver Prep, last week’s #1 was shutout 10-0 by Coral Gables on Tuesday and falls to #3, while Flanagan moves up a spot to #2.

Previously undefeated teams Orangewood Christian and Fleming Island fell slightly after suffering their first defeats of the year. Florida Christian was one of the biggest movers with a seven spot jump from #17 to #9, while Lakewood Ranch and Lakeland debut at 12 and 13.

Pacific

The top three spots remained unchanged, as Edison, St. Francis and Bishop Amat all continued to look like elite teams. St. Francis had a convincing win against Archbishop Mitty but Edison did enough to stay at #1.

Valencia improved to 7-1 on the week with a big win over Hart and moved up to #4. Mater Dei won a pair of tough games in the Trinity League to move into the top 5.

La Costa Canyon went 3-1 on the week, losing their first game of the season but didn’t slide too far, coming in at #12. Their loss leaves Helix (#16), St. Louis (#23) and Alhambra (#25) as the lone undefeated remaining in the Pacific Top 25. 9-1 Centennial makes their debut in the rankings this week at #20.

Southeast

Baton Rouge Catholic (LA) is the region’s new #1 after three impressive victories, coupled with previous #1 Farragut (TN) suffering their second loss of the year. Farragut fell to #2 while Madison Central (MS), Marist (GA), Columbus (GA) held tight to round out the top five.

East Coweta (GA) dropped its first game of the year to Newnan and makes a short drop to #9. Sumrall (MS), Wayne County (GA), and Oxford (AL) hold spots six through eight with Barbe (LA) jumping three spots to #10.

Seven new teams debut this week, three of them from Georgia (#16 Buford, #19 Thomson, and #22 Brookwood). Other new additions are #23 Tupelo (MS), #24 Acadiana (LA), and #25 Baldwin County (AL).

Texahoma

As was expected to be the case entering the season, the top two spots in the region belong to Oklahoma powers Owasso and Broken Arrow. Both teams are in the top 5 nationally and are a combined 27-2 on the season. Owasso has a slight edge at this point and comes in at the top spot. With the way both teams have been playing it seems like a very real possibility that neither will lose again before they face one another 2 weeks from today.

Fort Bend Clements comes in at #3 and is the top ranked team in Texas thanks to an 18-2 start that includes a number of quality wins. The Woodlands and defending 5A Texas champion Carroll round out the top 5. Klein Collins began the season as the top ranked team in Texas and 10th in the nation, and while their ability to score runs has actually surpassed those lofty expectations, their pitching has been their Achilles heel. At 15-6 Klein Collins checks in at #10.

At this point in the season there are no undefeated teams left in the rankings. In addition to Owasso and Broken Arrow, #13 Sharyland also has just one loss. #9 St. Pius X is the winningest team in the region with 25 wins.
