Top 5 Prospects

1. Austin Atwell, OF, 5-10, 170, R-R, Wylie HS, Sachse, Texas .
The top player at the event and he did it all. Ran a 6.78 in the 60, was 88 mph from the outfield, took a great BP, and went 6-for-7 with 5 SB and 4 R in game action. Atwell has great upside.

2. Mark Grimm, LHP-1B, 5-11, 190, L-L, Holy Innocents HS, Smyrna, Ga.
Two-way prospect who was the best pitcher at the event. LHP up to 85 mph with good curve and plus control. Also went 3-for-6 at the plate with projectable power.

3. Ryan Akins, SS-RHP, 5-11, 170, R-R, Flower Mound (Texas ) HS.
Live-bodied athlete with present tools. Runs a 6.9 in the 60. Has a quick bat and makes hard contact. Akins was also 86 mph on the mound.

4. Joe Hainsfurther, SS-C, 5-10, 165, B-R, Highland Park HS, Dallas.
Athletic player with the best infield defensive actions at the event. He has plus range, hands and feet, and threw 84 mph across the infield and 77 from behind the plate with a 1.97 pop time. Hainsfurther went 3-for-6 in game action.

5. Zac Russell, C-RHP, 5-10, 190, R-R, Smithson Valley HS, Bulverde, Texas .
Russell has a great catcher’s frame with present strength, and a very strong arm (77 mph as a C, 86 as a P) with a 1.93 pop time. His throws are accurate and through the bag. Also shows projectable power at the plate.

Michael Alonso, OF-RHP-1B, 6-4, 210, R-R, Little Rock Catholic HS, Little Rock, Ark.
Has present strength in body. Hit the only HR of the showcase and went 3-for-5 during the event.

Justin Couvillion, 2B-UT, 5-10, 180, L-R, Central Private HS, Greenwell Springs, La.
Very steady player who has a solid all-around game. Plus range defensively and makes all the plays. Couvillion was 4-for-6 in game action.

Casey Jackson, C-1B, 5-11, 200, L-R, Bridge City (Texas ) HS.
He has present strength in his body. Showed raw power and projects as a middle-of-the-order run producer at the next level.

Blair Kessler, OF, 5-11, 170, R-R, Boerne (Texas ) HS.
Athletic player with a live body. Ran a 6.9 in the 60, and has a quick bat with good power projection. Kessler had 2 extra-base hits in the games.

Chris Lewis, LHP-1B-OF, 6-0, 180, B-L, Ennis (Texas ) HS.
Lewis is an athletic player who knows how to play the game, and is very instinctive. He is a two-way prospect with upside at the plate and on the mound.

Wesley Mercurio, LHP-OF-1B, 6-1, 185, L-L, Bellaire (Texas ) HS.
Good frame, and has two-way projection. Mercurio had some of the best raw power at the event that should continue to develop.

Ben Mrachek, SS, 5-10, 150, R-R, San Antonio Christian HS, San Antonio, Texas .
Ben is an athletic player with very good actions in the middle infield. Has great range and made all the plays, and went 3-for-6 in game action.

Jonathan Perez, RHP-OF, 5-10, 160, R-R, J.P. Stevens HS, San Antonio, Texas .
Perez is wiry strong with athleticism. He competes and has baseball instincts. He threw 87 mph from the OF and 84 on the mound. Hits with authority and has a quick bat. In 3 IP, 1H, 0R, 5K.

Jordy Snikeris, C, 5-10, 180, R-R, St. Michaels HS, Austin, Texas .
Solid behind the plate, but his bat separates him from the rest. Snikeris went 5-for-6 with 3 RBIs and a double in game action.

Robert Van Cour, OF-RHP, 6-1, 175, R-R, Reagan HS, San Antonio, Texas .
Van Cour is a great athlete with tools. He ran a 6.78 in the 60, threw 82 mph from the OF and 84 on the mound. He struck out 8 in 3 IP with zip on his fastball through the zone.

Taylor Wax, RHP-OF, 5-11, 155, L-R, Parkview Baptist HS, Prairieville, La.
Wax pitched 3 innings of no-hit ball while striking out 3. Had 81 mph fastball with projectability, and threw 85 from the outfield. Also went 3-for-6 in game action.

Christopher Wisdom, RHP-1B, 6-0, 185, R-R, Channelview HS, Crosby, Texas .
He was very good on the mound with an 82 mph fastball. Wisdom allowed only 1 H in 3 IP with 5 strikeouts. He is a strike thrower who keeps the ball down in the zone.


Top 5 Prospects

1. Slade Heathcott, OF-LHP, 5-10, 162, L-L , Texas HS, Texarkana, Texas .
The top-ranked 2009 talent at the showcase. Has plus arm strength from the outfield and he can go get it. He went 3-for-7 at the plate; in 2 IP on mound, 1H, 0R, 5 K. Heathcott has great upside both ways.

2. Evan Frazar, SS-OF-RHP, 5-11, 170, R-R, Bellaire (Texas ) HS.
Athletic 2009 prospect with live actions defensively. Ran a 7.00 in the 60 and threw 82 across infield. He stole 3 bases in game action.

3. Dillon Buhrkuhl, RHP-3B, 6-1, 195, R-R, Tyler All Saints HS, Flint, Texas.
2009 prospect with present strength and an XL frame. He touched 84 mph with a good breaking ball. In 3 IP, 2H, 0R, 4 K.

4. Jeff Spillane, RHP, 6-1, 180, R-R, Houston Christian HS, Houston.
Has an extra large frame and a projectable body, with 81 mph velocity on his fastball. Has pitchability and throws his curve for strikes. In 4 IP, 9K, 4H, 0R.

5, Drew Abernathy, LHP, 6-0, 170, L-L, Evangel Christian HS, Greenwood, La.
Lean and projectable lefty with natural cut on his fastball, projectable velocity. In 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 4 K.
