WWBA World Scout Notes: Day 1

Tyler Cerny (2022, Greenwood, Ind.) had a loud morning at the plate for Team Indiana. The shortstop produced consistent loud barrels. Standing at 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, Cerny offers a really athletic look. The Indiana commit employs really simple swing mechanics. Starting from a medium, balanced base with even feet, gets separated well and is consistently on time with all parts. He stays really short to the ball and through the zone with good bat speed before ending with a short finish. Cerny squared up quality pitching all morning and will be one to monitor.



Johnathon Allen (2022, Wadsworth, Ohio) was another standout for Team Indiana. The uncommitted southpaw tossed three 1/3 scoreless frames while punching out four and working efficiently. Allen sat 86-87 and topped at 88 with his fastball. He held the velocity for the entirety of the outing and located it. His heater comes out of the hand really well and explodes on hitters, consistently drawing late swings from batters. Allen also showed good feel for a sweeping breaking ball in the mid-70s threw it for strikes. The left-hander operates from a low effort delivery and releases from a lower slot that allows for some deception. The Ohio native attacked hitters and ended with a 64% strike percentage.
