Cole Johnson (2023, Austin, Texas), standing in at 6-foot-5, 220 pounds, fills up the right-handed batter's box with the presence of a big-time power bat. The other team was very careful when pitching to Johnson the first two times around the order as he would not bite at pitches out of the zone and would gladly take his walks. The third time around with nowhere to put him, they were forced to make him swing and after a battle he got his pitch and did not miss it. A bases-clearing double rang through the park as he took a high-and-outside fastball to deep right-center. He clearly knows his power as his swing is so quiet and smooth that he just needs to put the barrel on it for the ball to fly. He stays connected and gets really good extension with his big frame.

Josh Erd (2023, Potomac, Md.) is a fast twitch leadoff hitter who hits line drives all around the field to be a great table-setter. His swing is very repeatable, short, quick and directly to the baseball with no wasted movement. Barrel-to-ball skills are there as he picked up two line drive singles to start the tournament. Erd plays a solid shortstop, he is athletic and glides to the ball with a glove that works through the ball well. A spark plug that fits in any lineup.
