Super25 New England Fall Scout Notes

With the leaves starting to turn colors and the temperatures losing their steam, Fall Baseball got off to a hot start in the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic Region. Teams from all over the region descended on New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania looking to start their seasons off on the right foot.





Alex Gay (2024, Clifton Park, N.Y.) is an impressive young right-hander that recently committed to the University of Louisville. The 6-foot-5, 195-pound behemoth implores a simple, repeatable delivery despite still growing into his immense frame. He ran his fastball up to 88 mph in a brief two-inning outing at the 16U Super 25 New England Super Qualifier this weekend for Mid-Atlantic Dirtbags Anchor Down. The Clifton Park, N.Y. native creates tons of downhill plane towards the plate, leveraging down out in front from a lower three-quarters arm slot. He mixed in two variations of his breaking ball, an 11-5 shaped curveball that he used to find the strike zone early in counts and a sharper slider that flashed late vertical tilt to it for swings and misses. The projection within the young 2024 grad's frame is something to dream on, as he continues to add strength and fully mature. Gay will be someone to monitor moving forward as he assuredly will continue to add velocity to his already explosive repertoire.
