Ryan Ward, SS, Class of 2022
Commitment: Arkansas

Ward kicked off what proved to be an extremely fruitful period of recruiting for the Razorbacks as we’ll dive into below. Originally an Arizona commit, the California native is an excellent pickup this “late” in the process for Head Coach Dave Van Horn and his staff, given the already present tools as well as what’s still to come as he continues to build upon his athletic and twitch 6-foot-2, 180-pound frame. Ward, a 14u Select Festival alum, put together an impressive performance at the Perfect Game National Showcase where his twitch was on full display, running a 6.59 in the 60-yard before showing off actions in the infield that should keep him in the dirt at the next level, complete with a quick release and lateral agility. It’s the left-handed swing however that the Fayetteville faithful are going to come to love as it’s as smooth and fluid as it is tension-free and projectable, showing natural leverage out front with budding home run-type power already and plenty more to come. Ward’s addition continues to highlight the embarrassment of riches Arkansas has with their 2022 class, led by shortstop Jayson Jones (No. 5 prospect in the entire class) and features seven players ranked within Perfect Game’s top-200.
