Brody Shawn (2023, Alexandria, Va.) plays for the Aces Elite 2023 and was on fire at the plate in the opening game of the tournament. He swings the ball well with quick hands and has good plate discipline waiting for his pitch to hit. In the bottom of the fourth inning with the bases loaded and two outs, Shawn came up to bat and barely missed a home run. He hit the wall in deep left-center, clearing the bases for a stand-up triple. Shawn also showcased strong defensive skills by gloving the ball with ease and making difficult plays look routine. He finished the day going 2-for-3 with three RBI and a triple. Shawn took the mound for their second game and proceeded to strike out the side to start the game. With a loose and whippy arm, he went right after the hitters with a fastball that was topping 94 mph and sitting 90-91 while he mixed in a change-of-pace breaking ball to keep the hitters off balance. Shawn pitched a solid four innings with nine strikeouts.
