Chase Hoover (2022, Santa Barbara, Calif.) was extremely impressive in his outing. The TCU commit utilized a low-effort operation that he managed to repeat well. The left-handed batter featured a solid three-pitch mix that kept hitters off balance all day. The fastball sat 87-89 mph with the ability to throw it to both sides of the plate. He paired it with a big bending curveball that sat 72-74 mph with 12-6 action. It was his best offering that got the most whiffs. Hoover also flashed a deceptive changeup that sat 78-80 mph. He maintained arm speed well on the pitch. Overall, Hoover manages to generate plenty of swing-and-miss and help get his team a win on day one.

Reed Moring (2022, Watsonville, Calif.) was absolutely dominant in his start on Tuesday. The UC Santa Barbara commit cruised his way through six strong innings while striking out eight hitters. He features a frame that has room to add more strength down the line. The delivery has a lot of athleticism down the mound and features a clean, easy arm action. The right-hander used a lethal fastball/curveball combination that hitters struggled to get comfortable with. The fastball sat 86-91 mph on a slight downhill plane. He showcased the ability to locate it in all four quadrants. The curveball he paired it with was devastating. The offering sat 73-76 mph with sharp, downward break. His ability to spin it allowed him to create late break that was almost impossible for hitters to hit hard. Morning pounded the zone with both offerings, allowing him to get ahead of hitters and put them away with ease. It was a fun outing to watch from an impressive young arm.
