17u East WWBA Scout Notes: Days 1-2

Connor McCaslin (2022, Arlington, Tenn.) was really good in his day one start for EBC Wright 17U. The uncommitted righty was up to 89 mph with the heater and punched out nine over five innings while allowing no runs on one hit with better than 60% strikes. The delivery and arm action are operationally smooth with good tempo as he worked mostly at 84-87 mph. The breaking ball was effective with 11-5 shape in the low-70s as a still-developing pitch that will continue to sharpen as he matures with more arm speed. The fastball was able to be the primary offering for most of the day though as he moved it around with flashes of arm-side life when he went to the third base side of the plate for strikes.
