16u World Series Scout Notes: Day 1

US Elite 16U National got a great start from Brady Louck (2023, Plainfield, Ill.) who unfortunately took a tough-luck loss. The Notre Dame commit struck out 11 during his excellent six-inning outing. He has a smooth inline delivery with a quick arm and high three-quarter release. The fastball was up to 89 and got run ride at times, and he split the plate evenly for more of the game. The lefty kept hitters off balanced with a horizontal shaped breaking ball in the low-70s that he threw mostly to the glove side. The third offering was a fading changeup that got depth, though he hardly used it due to the quality of the fastball design. The is plenty of upside remaining in the slender frame, and Louck will be a good follow over the next two years.

Tyler Pitzer (2023, McDonald, Pa.) hit in the 4-hole for USA Prime and banged two hits using his good-looking left-handed stroke. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame can fill out and hold considerable strength and will easily add power to the profile. The swing is geared for line drives and he showed an advanced approach fighting with two strikes and using the whole field. Given the athleticism and left-handed hit tool, the entire package should have recruiters interested soon in the uncommitted prospect.
