The opening game for the Virginia Breeze Elite 2022 was dominated by the pitching arms of Brian Curley (starting the game), Alex Bouche, and Cooper Newell, who closed it out. Breeze combined to walk three in seven innings while only allowing four hits.

Brian Curley (2022, Midlothian, Va.) is a VCU commit and right-handed pitcher who took the ball for the opening game showing a strong arm and lower half as he drops and drives to the plate. He has great explosion to the plate and extension on release with a heavy fastball that has some arm-side run and was topping 88 mph. Curley was also flashing a good slider with 10-5 action. He finished going two plus innings and only allowed one weak hit.
