15u World Series Scout Notes: Day 1

The Artillery 2024 Scout Team put together a 2-0 start to the event on day one and it was production on both sides of the ball that made it happen. Logan Harelson (2024, Mountville, Pa.), Seth Patterson (2024, Lakeland, Fla.) and Nick Wimberly (2024, Merritt Island, Fla.) combined for the first win on the mound and all showed what their long-term upside could look like.
 
Harelson is a long and projectable left-hander at 6-foot-3, 165 pounds and the components are good. He controls the long limbs fairly well maintaining good direction to the plate all while creating deceptive angle in how long he holds his front side closed. The fastball has been up to 86 mph in the past, 84 mph here, and he works downhill with good intent on it. While he can get to the bottom of the zone with the fastball, the breaking ball is a solid pitch as well as he sweeps it into the zone from that angled release and is able to get to the glove side of the plate with it proving tough to right-handed hitters.
