The Scorpions/SF Giants Scout Team made a deep run to the final day of the WWBA and both Cameron Smith (2022, Lake Worth, Fla.) and Jordan Taylor (2022, Jacksonville, Fla.) are big reasons why. Both Florida State commits have been impressing this summer and offer a package of tools that make the upside exciting long term.





Smith, an infielder, is hitting a robust .522 with four home runs to his name including one that he hit in the 8 AM game over at Brook Run. He’s got terrific size at 6-foot-3, 205 pounds with a lot of strength but also quality athleticism that should allow him to stick on the left side of the infield long term. He’d been suiting up at third base where he’s been a defensive asset, showing good lateral quickness and the softness in his hands to be a vacuum over there in terms of hard hit contact. The arm strength plays from there and the profile is strong from a power-power perspective from third base. The swing shows quality bat speed and the ability to lift and drive hard hit contact. He’s been as consistent as they come this week and he’s certainly made a name for himself this summer.
