Justin Diaz (2025, Flat Rock, Mich.) was solid all week for Fielder’s Choice making plays on both sides of the ball. Playing shortstop most of the weekend, he looked comfortable going in each direction with adequate arm strength to make plays in the hole. At the plate is where he really did his damage though, impacting balls hard on a line all week. He finished the tournament hitting .600 as he recorded a hit in each game, with three singles and three extra-base hits throughout the week. His ability to drive in runs was pivotal in Fielder’s Choices deep tourney run as he helped account for nine runs, with seven RBI and two runs scored.

The 6-foot, 200-pound left-hander threw a gem for the Mississippi Rippers on day one of bracket play going 5 2/3 innings with eight strikeouts, as he allowed just one hit to stifle a very talented EBC lineup. Buckley ran the fastball up to 83 mph showing arm-side life and he worked hitters to that side of the plate. He mixed in a mid- to upper-60s breaking ball as well showing good depth through the zone when he went to it.
