Prior Recap: Day 1 & 2

I briefly talked about outfielder Quinten Marsh (2025, San Jose, Calif.) from the tournament’s opening day as he connected for an inside-the-park home run, but on Sunday morning I got to see the NorCal native patrol center field. High-waisted and long-limbed, Marsh seems to glide in the outfield, covering ample ground to either side with a sound first step which only adds to the intrigue of the profile. The barrel skills are there too and while he didn’t get much to fall in my looks, he did hit .400 on the tournament and routinely squared the ball up, especially well to the opposite field with carry coming off.

The son of former MLBer Benny Agbayani, shortstop Bruin Agbayani (2025, Mililani, Hawaii) got the start at shortstop throughout the tournament for Trosky National and showed tools to like on both sides of the ball throughout the weekend. Built on the stronger side at 5-foot-7, 165 pounds, Agbayani shows a quick first step in the dirt with some bounce to his actions, routinely positioning himself well behind the ball before showing some snatch to his hands. Offensively the strength in his hands shine as there was an at-bat or two where he got out onto his front side a bit early but the hands were both quick and strong enough to still impact the ball the other way, including on one deep fly out to left field that looked destined for extra bases just shy of the track if not for the outstretched glove of the left fielder. Agbayani showcased a patient approach throughout the tournament too, showing an understanding of the strike zone while proving he wasn’t hesitant of taking his free passes when handed to him. We’ve seen some young talent come out of Hawaii recently and it looks like Agbayani is next in line.
