ATLANTA, Ga. -- With the summer tournament season now underway, Perfect Game is set to hold the Southeast Memorial Day Classic, the second event of the summer season to include upperclassmen travel team divisions. The five-day event, held from May 27-31, will carry 309 teams from 12 different states, and is centered around Perfect Game’s East Cobb Complex and its surrounding Atlanta area ballparks.

Similar to last weekend’s affairs hosted by Perfect Game and held at East Cobb, the Memorial Day Classic field is split into 11 age divisions from 8u to 18u. The largest age groups are 15u (62 teams), 16u (56 teams), 17u (48 teams) and 14u (31 teams), which collectively, will again field some of the nation's top-ranked players.

East Cobb Baseball leads the way in upperclass program power. All three of the East Cobb Astros teams, from 15u through 17u, are ranked among the nation’s top-10, and the 17u and 16u squads were named co-champions of last week’s North Atlanta Open in the 17u division.

Some of the top-ranked players for the three Astros teams include 2021 graduates Harry Ford (Georgia Tech commit) and Michael Braswell (South Carolina), as well as 2022 graduates Dylan Lesko (Vanderbilt) and Termarr Johnson (uncommitted), Chandler Pollard (Washington State), and Preston Murphy (uncommitted).

All of the aforementioned players rank as top-500 players in their respective graduation classes.

Challenging East Cobb for multi-division Memorial Day dominance is another nationally-recognized travel program in 5 Star National. 5 Star National 17u Black themselves have four of the top-15 ranked players in the 17u tournament, second only to the Astros.

2022 graduates Sal Stewart (Vanderbilt), Hunter Sloop (Tennessee), Blaydon Plain (Florida) and Austin Williamson (Alabama) will all suit up for 5 Star, in an effort to win a Memorial Day title and slingshot themselves into a successful summer season.

Other highly-touted players to take the field this weekend include Georgia Bombers 17u Marucci’s Riley Stanford (Georgia Tech), the fourth-ranked player in the state of Georgia, and Team Elite 17u White’s Hayden Murphy (Auburn), Georgia’s second-highest ranked right-handed pitcher.

Each team will play three pool play games, with bracket play kicking off Sunday morning at 11:30 am based on team performance, and running through Monday afternoon. The upperclass semifinal and championship matchups will take place at the East Cobb Complex.
