The Lansing CC Stars had an incredible season that fell just shy of the NJCAA D-II World Series, but either way a 47-3 overall record along with a loaded roster of talent is nothing to sneeze at.

George Ferguson, LHP, Lansing

Ferguson started game one for Lansing and was good, and it’s easy to buy into the projection here. A lithely-built left-hander, Ferguson has a good present mix of stuff, control, and deception that all play together well. He was up to 88 mph with his fastball out of a looser arm stroke with angle at release, moving the fastball in and out to great effect, especially when he was able to angle that fastball in on the hands of right-handed hitters. The curveball is on the softer side, but thrown with good spin and shape with the makings of an out-pitch long term, and once he found the slider feel in the mid-70s he added a whole new horizontal dimension to his game. That pitch is thrown, as stated, in the mid- to upper-70s with good tilt and overall bite, and given the three-pitch mix, strikes, and projection on his frame, he’s got a chance to be a weekend guy for Campbell next year right away.
