HS Rankings Update: April 27

We’re at an interesting, but fun, part of the season where playoffs have begun in most of the Southeast region states (Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana), while others are wrapping up league/district play (Texas and California) and some are just now getting their seasons underway or are only a couple weeks in. Either way, there is baseball being played nationwide and the caliber of the teams that remain in the Top 50 is very high.

Buford (Ga.) and IMG Academy (Fla.) once again remain at the top as IMG took down former No. 3 Tampa Jesuit (Fla.) 4-2 in a competitive game last week, while Jesuit’s loss allows Thousand Oaks (Calif.), Orchard Lake St. Mary’s (Mich.) and Alfred M. Barbe (La.) all to move up a spot and round out the top-five. Stoneman Douglas (Fla.) is coming off a big win over Calvary Christian Academy (Fla.) while Lake Travis (Texas) and Hamilton (Ariz.) make their way back up a spot each.

Not too much movement in the next group of teams as Doral Academy (Fla.) ended their regular season on a high note and moves up five spots to No. 17, but some shakeups come throughout the 20-50 range. A handful of teams continue their rise back toward the top, including Carrollton (Ga.) who is up to No. 22, Heritage Hall (Okla.) who is up to No. 25 and Combine Academy (N.C.) who is all the way up to No. 28. Only two new teams join the rankings this week in Jesuit College Prep (Texas) out of Dallas, led by first-round talent Jordan Lawlar and Buchanan (Calif.), who began the season in the Top 50 and has started 11-1 to find their way back in.
