Extreme Performance 06 Rallies to Win 14u Title at Easter Classic

GASTONIA, N.C. -- As night fell on Poston Park, the temperature took a bit of a dive into the low-40s. That noticeable chill in the air didn’t keep Athletes Lab-Rembert and Extreme Performance 06 from playing with great effort and energy. Extreme Performance 06, a gifted and deep squad, overcame an early 3-1 deficit, scoring eight unanswered runs to claim the 2021 Easter Classic Championship, 9-3.

Both teams, who are almost mirror images of each other, relied on sound pitching, steady and reliable defense, and opportunistic offense to reach the championship game. Getting to the finals was no easy task either as the 14U field was stacked with outstanding teams. There were no easy victories to be had throughout the day.

Although there were a number of players who contributed throughout the day for the championship EP 06 squad, tournament MVP Andie Evans (2025, Mooresville, N.C.) led the way. It seemed as if Evans was in the middle of every opportunity presented to XP and she delivered.

A tip of the cap to Athletes Lab on their well-earned place in the final game. They defeated a very sound Comets-Trego club by a score of 7-3 in the semifinals to get to the championship round.

EP’s march to the silver plaque saw them winning a 3-2 semifinal nail-biter on over top-seeded NC Intensity. That huge and exciting win in the semis allowed XP to carry over big momentum to the finals and ultimately to the championship. Congrats to the 2021 PG 14U Easier Classic champions, Extreme Performance 06.

Team NC Bowman Pulls Away For 7-1 Title Game Win in 12u Division

LOWELL, N.C. -- Two very talented and well-coached teams wound their way through pool play and the bracket gauntlet to match up in the 12U championship on Saturday at George Poston Park in Lowell, N.C. Team NC Bowman broke open a well-played, tight game late in posting a 7-1 victory over a very competitive Cardinals Nationals-Woodruff club.

Clinging to a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning, Team NC put a marker on the board to stretch their margin to two. Cardinals Nationals had their chances throughout the game, especially late, but just couldn’t get a key knock to get the game tied. Team NC took advantage of some solid swings in the sixth inning and put the game away, plating four runs to push their lead to the eventual 7-1 final.

Cardinals Nationals went 3-2 on the day, including an impressive 8-1 victory over Team NC in the opening round of pool play. Paced by tournament MVP Rylee Tedder (2028, Tabaccoville, N.C.), who was unquestionably the most dominant pitcher in the 12U division on Saturday, Team NC Bowman went 4-1. Team NC played stellar defense throughout the tournament and used their aggressive and heady baserunning style to consistently force their opponents into mistakes.

Perfect Game will certainly hear from these two fine programs again this spring and summer. Both of these teams are structured and are fundamentally sound. They have pitchers who are ready to advance to the next level and play almost air-tight defense. Offensively, both clubs are aggressive on the basepaths. They can play “small ball” when necessary and also have hitters in the middle of their lineups who can drive the ball with authority.

Congratulations to the Cardinals Nationals-Woodruff on their strong run to the finals. A hardy “well-done” to Team NC Bowman on capturing the 2021 OG 12U Easter Classic championship.
