WWBA 14u Scout Notes: Day 1


Already known for his abilities in the left-handed batter’s box, Jacob Kendall (2025, Jacksonville, FL) has done nothing to dissuade any prior thoughts about the hit tool over the first couple of days in Panama City. Kendall, a primary shortstop who has seen a good bit of time in center field this weekend where his athleticism is an asset, has swung it well and has begun to show the making of a power tool as all three of his hits thus far have been of the extra-base variety. Starting tall in the box, the 13u PG Select Festival alum loads with rhythm and has shown to be on time more often than not with a long and fluid path through the zone, generating some of the better bat speed in the tournament despite being listed at 5-foot-10, 140 pounds. Kendall will undoubtedly add physicality to his frame, which in turn will only aid in how the ball jumps off the barrel, a scary thought for opposing pitchers given what he has already done this weekend. On opening night Kendall got the barrel head out front and turned around a fastball, lifting it deep to right field for a ground rule double before twice going deep to center field for a pair of triples. Not only does the swing and bat-to-ball stand out, but so too does his overall approach in the box as he has rarely expanded the zone in my looks this weekend, drawing a few walks in route to hitting .429 through pool play.
