Walter Ford (2023, Hoover, Ala.) got the start night one and although it was brief, it was more than enough to know that there is a number of things to work with in terms of his chances to be one of the top two-way players in the country. Already lauded for the way he swings the bat, Ford jumped on the mound and worked up to 92 mph with hard downhill action out of the hand that would show tough to square against a number of lineups. He did struggle to find the zone in the brief look given the amount of moving parts that struggle to sync up right now, but he was able to show off a brief feel for the hard slider we have seen in the past, a pitch that will be an important piece to any long-term success on the mound.

Rafael Betancourt Jr (2022, Deltona, Fla.) is a prospect who had a sound summer at the dish in the few events he was able to attend, and the tools continue to bode well for results here into the beginning of the fall circuit. Although his hits would only fall on day two, day one showed a glimpse of what we have become used to seeing in a hard barrel from the left side that would get run down in the gap. The overall athleticism in the profile is what has enhanced each part of his game to date, but the hit tool has really come along in game action and only seems to be trending upward. As he continues to find the barrel with consistency while slowly getting stronger, the overall package and results should improve accordingly.
