South Qualifier Scout Notes: Day 1

Premier Baseball 2021-Curry could not have asked for a better pitching performance than what they received from RHP, Cody Vern (2022, Houston, TX). The uncommitted, 6-foot-3, 210 pound, Cy Ridge HS junior, twirled a no-hitter against a very good Marucci Elite Texas-Wallace club in opening round action of the 2020 WWBA South Qualifier. Pitching off his well commanded 82-85 mph fastball, that actually touched 87 a couple of times, Vern struck eight and walked only three. He complimented his active fastball with a sharp, 12 to 6 breaking, 68 mph curveball.

Lefthanded hitting Jack Clark (2022, Tyler, TX), a Louisiana-Lafayette commit, was a force at the plate for the Prospects National Team in their opening round 7-4 victory over very competitive Knights Showcase Baseball club. The 6-foot, 190 pound, Whitehouse HS junior, powered two, no doubt home runs, deep into the night. His two dingers plated six of the seven runs that PNT scored.
