WWBA World championships relocating

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Perfect Game tournament officials have announced site and venue changes for its three of its five WWBA World Championships in October, including the prestigious PG WWBA World Championship which has been held in Jupiter, Fla., every year but one since 2000.

The WWBA World Championship and the WWBA Freshman World Championship will be relocated from their previous homes at MLB spring training sites on Florida’s Atlantic Coast to MLB spring training sites on Florida’s Gulf Coast.

The moves were necessary due to COVID-19 restrictions still in place in Palm Beach County, where the cities of Jupiter and West Palm Beach are located. The dates for these events will remain the same as originally scheduled.

The WWBA World Championship will be moved from the Roger Dean Complex in Jupiter to venues in Fort Myers, including jetBlue Park, the Lee County Player Development 5-Plex and Terry Park; it will be staged Oct. 8-12.

The WWBA Freshman World Championship, also set for Oct. 8-12, will move from FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach to the Fort Myers area as well as the Atlanta Braves brand new Spring Training Complex in the Sarasota area.

The WWBA 14u World Championship, slated for Oct. 16-19, will also relocate from West Palm Beach to the recently built turf fields at the Panama City Beach Sports Complex.

The WWBA Sophomore World Championship, scheduled for September 24-28, and WWBA Underclass World Championship, scheduled for Oct. 1-5 in Fort Myers, are unaffected by this announcement.
