16u BCS Scout Notes: Day 1

The offense for Elite Squad CF was certainly giving their best efforts today and a couple of prospects who showed some hard hit contact were Victor Martinez (2023, Orlando, Fla.) and Jason Torres (2022, Miami, Fla.). They put up a ten-spot in the first inning of their two games scheduled on the day and immediately showed their presence.

Martinez is a physical lefthanded hitter who does a good job at staying on top of the plate and covering the entire strike zone. He had a couple of knocks, including a single shot right back up the middle that fortunately didn’t strike the pitcher, and hit right in the middle of the lineup. Torres, a Miami commit, laced a couple of really well-struck baseballs on Saturday including an absolutely roped double down the pull side line. Torres is a super-physical prospect with a broad and well-strengthened frame that he uses to leverage due to his length and generate hard-hit contact to the pull side. It’s easy to envision him as a middle of the order power threat at the next level should he continue on his developmental trajectory.
