During the fall with our scouts spread out across the country our scouts have had the opportunity to catch some fall ball at the junior college level. Over the next few weeks we'll provide reports on their observations looking ahead to the spring.

Programs covered: Central Arizona, NIACC, Kirkwood, DMACC, Fort Scott, North Central Missouri, Johnson County, Southwestern, Kansas City Kansas, State Fair, Barton, Colby, Garden City, Coffeyville, Cowley, Neosho

Leo Palacios, lhp, Central Arizona
A big, physical lefthander with a good combination of present size and projection, Palacios was excellent at the Central Arizona Scout Day, which, by schedule, was a one-inning look at each pitcher who threw. Palacios worked in the 88-91 mph range in this outing, creating very good extension over his front side and riding life on that fastball, allowing for it to play up beyond the velocity. The changeup stood out, thrown with conviction and intent with 8-10 mph of velocity separation and late, fading action to go along with a quality slider as well, thrown in the upper-70's with some bite. He looks the part of a future rotation piece.

Bradley Collins, rhp, Central Arizona
A UMASS-Amherst transfer, Collins jumped onto the national radar in the Northwoods League this past summer with reports of mid-90's fastballs. He didn't throw quite that hard in this look, but was still dominant in a look that could open MLB Draft doors. He's slenderly built with plenty of projection remaining, and the arm speed is plus, giving him easy velocity projection. The fastball worked in the 89-93 mph range, creating excellent angle and life from an extended three quarters slot, showcasing a sharp slider in the low-80's that flashed above-average as well as good feel for his changeup. Collins has since committed to San Diego State.

Kyler Bush, lhp, Central Arizona
Bush was one of the few CAC players who was committed prior to scout day, having given his pledge to St. Mary's prior. He threw well in this look, with a physical and strong build, showing a repeatable delivery that allows him to throw a lot of strikes. The arm stroke is compact and he hides the ball well as a result, creating good deception to hitters. The fastball worked in the 86-88 mph range with average arm side life, working in a shorter, downer slider in the upper-70's that plays well off of his fastball. He looks like he'll be able to generate plenty of weak contact this spring and throughout his career.
