Alabama

The fruits of a very strong recruiting effort are beginning to come to pass as the freshman and sophomore classes in Tuscaloosa are the strength of the program. Returners Tyler Gentry and TJ Reeves will anchor the lineup and Reeves continues to make strides as a legitimate power-speed combination player.

Starting pitching is the major question mark for Alabama, but there is arm talent in the program. Sophomore Dylan Smith has been 90-92 mph in the fall with a low-80s slider and that marks a significant jump forward for the Texas native. And two northern freshmen – lefthanders Connor Prielipp and Antoine Jean – have stood out. Prielipp, who is from Wisconsin, has touched 95 mph with a hammer breaking ball and the Canadian Jean shows plus pitchability.
