The 2019 Jesse Flores Memorial All-Star Game gave scouts and college coaches yet another look at some of what Southern California has to offer for the 2020 draft and to college rosters in need. The game was filled with plenty of action to go around as both the South and North teams tied 9-9.

No. 53 overall ranked 2020, San Diego commit and PG All-American Kevin Sim (2020, Torrey Pines, Calif.) had a nice day at the plate with two hits including a towering fly ball double that one-hopped the wall in left-center field. As the 2019 summer has gone on, Sim has battled with simplifying his stroke and staying balanced and on time with his leg kick. When everything works fluidly and together, he has a beautiful swing with good hands and the potential to get into some balls to all fields like he did Saturday. His very low handset along with a strong upper body coil generate a lifted barrel plane through the zone that at times leaves him susceptible to swinging over the top of changeups. However, his present bat speed and good hands cannot be overlooked as Sim will continue to build his draft resume this upcoming week at the WWBA World Championship in Jupiter, Fla.
