Prospect World Series Scout Notes

The ninth annual Prospect World Series took place this weekend at Suntrust Park, home of the Atlanta Braves. The Braves as well as the New York Yankees organized the event and did an outstanding job of running the games. Started by batting practice on Saturday, each team split up into groups, the Braves and Yankees took batting practice followed by infield, outfield and a doubleheader. A third game followed on Sunday morning and ran as smoothly as possible given that there was no weather to delay the event.

There were two real position player stars from the weekend. The first of which was Eddie Eisert (2020, Fairfax Station, Va.), a North Carolina State commit who really handled the barrel at a high level from both sides of the plate. Good velocity did not bother the infielder from Virginia as he showed he could turn around low-90s heat from the right side as well as the left side. His batting practice was slightly better from the right side, but that slight difference did not show up in game as he showed barrel control equally throughout his plate appearances. The twitch to Eisert’s gameplay is real as well as his quickness down the line, and his infield play is another aspect of his game that stood out in a big way. His hand-eye coordination and raw bat speed allow him to impact the baseball with jump that is simply just different than most players. Eisert is a really fun player to watch and will be a big-time prospect for scouts to follow in the Mid-Atlantic going into his draft year.
