2019 ushered in a new era for the CCL as a “northern” division was created and titled the Affiliate Division. That leaves the league with six core teams in Southern and Central California while the Affiliate Division is made up of four teams. The CCL champion comes from the six anchor teams in the south but the winners of the two divisions came together for the first annual California State Championship series.

The Santa Barbara Foresters won the trifecta of trophies in the CCL as they swept the regular season and the CCL playoffs and then won the aforementioned state title. The Healdsburg Prune Packers have become the dominant program in the North and they extended Santa Barbara to a third game in that state title series.

The CCL remains a haven for up-and-coming players from marquee leagues and programs. Among this year’s Top 20 prospects, there are 11 players combined from the SEC and Big 12 and this includes Omaha-caliber programs like Vanderbilt, Arkansas and Texas Tech.
